Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist (Band 6 Equivalent)

We are seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated paediatric occupational therapists to contribute to our growing occupational therapy service in Kingston and Richmond.

This position is a fantastic opportunity to work and develop as an individual and as part of a team gaining clinical and operational experience in a supportive environment across a range of clinical areas. As a Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist for Achieving for Children you will provide occupational therapy assessment, intervention and advice to children, young people and their families to support their development and participation in activities of daily living and access to learning.

We currently have vacancies in specialist resource provisions (SRP) based in the borough of Richmond supporting children and young people with neurodevelopmental and social communication conditions, as well as in a large special school in the borough of Kingston supporting young people with complex learning disabilities. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and those in full-time positions will also have the opportunity to work in the community setting

Main duties of the job

As a Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist for Achieving for Children, you will be responsible for:

  • A Specialist caseload of children and young people with a variety of complex physical, learning and social needs dependant on your clinical area
  • Writing reports for Education Health Care Plans (EHCP’s) and multidisciplinary team (MDT) assessments/reviews
  • Holding shared responsibility for ensuring the safeguarding of children and young people on your caseload
  • Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support children and young people’s occupational therapy needs and you will be experienced in providing specialist advice to other disciplines

About us

The Achieving for Children Paediatric Occupational Therapy Service is part of the Integrated Team for Children with Disabilities Service based at the Moor Lane Centre in Chessington, funded jointly by the Royal Borough of Kingston and NHS Kingston. The team provides a service to children and young people, aged 0 - 19, experiencing functional difficulties as a result of neurological or developmental difficulties. The team works across a number of settings including the dedicated clinical space at Moor Lane, family homes and special schools in the Borough of Kingston, and specialist resource provisions in the Borough of Richmond.

Achieving for Children is going through an exciting period of growth so that we can support and advise health colleagues, teaching professionals, parents and carers.
