Job summary

This is a part time position (21.6 hours a week) salary advertised will be calculated pro-rata.

The Emotional Health Service (EHS) is a dynamic and progressive multi-disciplinary team of Psychologists, CBT Therapists, Systemic Psychotherapists and Art Psychotherapists. We have teams at Richmond (Twickenham base), and Kingston (Chessington base) and work closely with our colleagues in Early Help and Social Care. As a CAMH service we have a strong sense of team and work together to support children and young peoples emotional wellbeing. We also work to prioritise the wellbeing of the staff team. As a Forensic Psychologist and Clinical Specialist in the Youth Offending Service you will be passionate about improving the mental health of these vulnerable children and young people and putting them at the centre of all you do. You will be part of a team of clinicians working in social care teams and be afforded many different opportunities to use your skills, including undertaking assessments, delivering treatments, working alongside schools and partner agencies and delivering training.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Specialist in the Youth Offending Service you will be passionate about improving the mental health of children and young people and putting them at the centre of all you do. You will be embedded in the Youth Justice Team and be afforded many different opportunities to use your skills, including providing professional consultations and reflective space, assessment and therapeutic direct work with young people and their families, supervision and line management. We welcome creative and innovative ways to deliver services. In addition to individual supervision and line management, you will have access to many exciting development opportunities including established links to the South London FCAMHS.

  • Experience of working with youth offending services and with children with mental health difficulties including ADHD and ASD.
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering evidenced-based treatment for a range of mental health difficulties both individually and in groups.
  • Experience of providing consultation and training to a wide range of professionals.
  • Proven ability to undertake assessments of emotional well-being and risk assessments.
  • Experience of building strong partnerships, maintaining relationships and co-producing solutions to challenges across a diverse set of stakeholders, including children, young people and their
  • families. Advocating the voices of those we are working with.
  • Experience of keeping and maintaining records (in accordance with local policy) and producing accurate reports, presentations, written updates to a range of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge, and experience of, using safeguarding procedures and statutory legislation and national policy drivers that will affect childrens services and your role.
  • Ability to provide high quality supervision and line management.
  • Experience of addressing specific equality or diversity issues within your practice with colleagues/service users and taking action to solve them.
