Job summary

Our specialist college for more than 100 residential and day students with complex disabilities aged 16 25 years old, has a national reputation for delivering therapeutic programmes that meet the needs of learners with both acute and chronic presentation.We are looking to recruit a part time (27 hours per week) term time only Senior Physiotherapist to join our friendly team to continue this vital work.

Main duties of the job

Led by an award-winning physiotherapist with a passion for treating people with acquired brain injuries and neuro-disabilities, the physiotherapy team are all motivated by the progress made by students as they follow a range of specialist programmes tailored to meet their needs. The is a fantastic opportunity for a senior physiotherapist to develop their skills in a caring and nurturing team.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To work as an integral member of the Physiotherapy team, delivering high quality therapeutic interventions to promote students learning and supporting their health and wellbeing. To supervise, support and line manage other members of the physiotherapy team and take an active role in the Senior Physiotherapist team.

Working Pattern

Part time post = 27 hours over 39 Weeks (example 3 x days at 8-5)

PRIMARY TASKS:

1. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate physiotherapy programmes to ensure students ongoing health and wellbeing, improve the outcomes for students and promote students learning. Ensuring interventions are safe, effective and meeting individuals needs.

2. To work with students, carers and members of the multi-disciplinary team to integrate therapy programmes into learning or other activities wherever possible. This include working in diverse environments including the Aquatic Therapy pool, fitness suite, rebound therapy room and educational groups etc. and supporting junior staff to achieve this.

3. To be responsible for the ongoing management of your own caseload and quality assuring practice.

4. To oversee the work of Junior Physiotherapists and provide on-going line management and supervision for junior Physiotherapists, Physiotherapy students and Physiotherapy Assistants, in line with college and professional policies and standards, assessing and evaluating competence when required.

5. To deputise for Lead Therapist/Physiotherapy Manager/Deputy Manager as required, including supporting the development of new provisions.

6. To work as part of the National Star multi-disciplinary assessment team to complete complex assessments.

7. To keep accurate and timely records in accordance with college and professional legislation, protocols and guidelines.

8. To comply with all National Star policies and procedures and professional codes of practice as defined by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and Heath and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

9. To contribute to the identification and organisation of CPD for yourself, the Physiotherapy team, individual staff you line manage.

10. To communicate information in an understandable format for students, their carers, members of the multi-disciplinary team and outside agencies.

11. To create, maintain and enhance productive working relationships with: students, the multi-disciplinary team, internal and external agencies, voluntary organisations and families and carers.

12. To participate in the National Star self-assessment processes and the review of organisational policies and procedures as required.

13. To undertake other duties that may be within the scope of the role function.
