Job summary

This role is part of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Partnership across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW), which includes Second Step, Alabar, Missing Link and Nilaari. Together, we deliver community-based, trauma-informed support that places people at the heart of mental health and wellbeing services.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to manage Recovery Navigators to enable them to work collaboratively with the client, GP, and other health and care professionals to ensure people with moderate-serious mental health needs are supported to connect to their community, to build resilience and to improve their wellbeing. To hold a caseload of complex clients with moderate to severe mental health needs. To ensure support is delivered in a way that is tailored to the individuals cultural and social needs. To triage and assess incoming referrals and take part in support conversations to identify need and allocate to services where appropriate. The role is hybrid with an expectation of working partly from home and part of the time in the Second Step offices in Swindon and Swindon community.

Job responsibilities

Manage a team of Recovery Navigators, providing 1:1s, supervisions, and developing Personal Development Plans in line with Second Steps policies and procedures. Support and oversee the development of Assistant Recovery Navigator roles as required, providing shadowing and learning opportunities in collaboration with learning and development team. Work with the Locality Manager to recruit into vacant positions including advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, onboarding and induction of any incoming staff. Triage referrals and carry out support conversations to ascertain the best support route/service for the client; completing relevant paperwork on electronic systems and carrying out follow up calls. Attend and contribute in a positive and proactive way to daily handovers and Multi-Disciplinary Discussions.

Essential

  • A minimum of two years recent experience of working with people
  • with mental health needs including needs assessments and the
  • support planning process.
  • Experience of working with people with multiple needs e.g. mental health, learning difficulty, personality disorder.
  • Experience of providing practical and emotional support to enable
  • the client to take up the responsibilities of their own recovery.
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Experience of leading a team including providing regular supervisions, completing annual appraisals and creating
  • performance development plans.

  • Proven experience of mental health issues and/or services, either as a user, carer, supporter, volunteer or worker.
