Job summary

The Safe Haven service offers short-term support to clients. This service focuses on supporting episodes of emotional distress rather than providing ongoing support intervention. The service offers up to 3 support interventions, which can include the discussion of self-management tools and the creation of Wellness Action Plans. The Second Step Team will also offer clients support with suicidal ideation, emotional distress, anxiety, depression, low mood, social isolation, and sleep hygiene. We offer additional support and signposting for issues such as housing, debt, health problems, drugs and alcohol use, substance misuse and unemployment. Follow up wellbeing checks can also be arranged to review a clients psychological state after their return home.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the role is to provide Leadership and guidance to the team of Recovery Navigators, working collaboratively together with service users accessing the service and other professionals to navigate and coordinate services connecting into community resources, building resilience and improving wellbeing. Work within a recovery and psychologically informed approach, taking a holistic approach to provide support to individuals during episodes of emotional distress. Ensure that services are tailored to individuals cultural and social needs.

  • Experience of supervising staff, students or volunteers.
  • Two years significant experience of working with people with mental health needs including needs assessments and the support planning process.
  • Experience of working with people with multiple needs i.e. mental health, homelessness, alcohol/drug dependency.
  • Experience of providing practical and emotional support to enable the client to take up the responsibilities of their own tenancy and settle and reintegrate into the community.

Desirable

  • Proven experience of working within a housing and support agency
  • Proven experience of mental health issues and/or services, either as a user, carer or supporter.
