Job summary
Step Together is a trailblazing service that offers a psychological, adversity and trauma (PAT) informed approach to those rough sleeping/at risk of homelessness with multiple, complex needs (mental health, forensic history, substance use) in Somerset. We advocate for system change, creatively thinking with other agencies to develop innovative ways to overcome barriers to engagement, turning these into opportunities to steer positive trauma-informed system change.
Main duties of the job
The Senior Recovery Coach role is an exciting blend of case holding and supporting frontline staff. Working closely with our Senior Practitioner, who supports our team with clinical approaches, this role offers more operational support.
The role includes supporting a smaller but more complex caseload than our Recovery Coaches, assisting with the development of Recovery Coaches to ensure that operational tasks are of the best standard, and a whole range of other exciting developmental opportunities designed to take someone to the next level in their career.

Carry out role adhering to Second Steps policies, procedures, values, code of conduct and with a Recovery orientated approach
Ensure the quality of service is paramount and evidenced throughout service users InForm (Case management system) files, and in line with contract requirements
Assist the Team Manager with coordination of referrals and assessments, and in ensuring provision of efficient and comprehensive support services to a range of clients with mental health support needs, in a safe and supportive manner
Provide effective day to day support to an agreed case load of more complex needs clients across the county

- Experience of mentoring staff, students or volunteers.
- Significant experience of working with people with mental health needs including needs assessments and the support planning process.
- Significant experience of working with people in housing need.
- Experience of working with people with multiple needs i.e. mental health, homelessness, alcohol/drug dependency.
- Experience of providing practical and emotional support to enable the client to take up the responsibilities of their own tenancy and settle and reintegrate into the community.
- Experience of supporting clients to a range of accommodation options and of developing relationships with social and private landlords
Desirable
- Proven experience of working within a housing and support agency
- Proven experience of mental health issues and/or services, either as a user, carer or supporter
