We are hiring a Training Coordinator to develop and deliver a training strategy for CDS UK, in conjunction with the Clinical Director and the Director of Operations and Business and other CDS UK staff. The strategy will cover both training the CDS UK workforce and staff in the NHS, criminal justice system, local authorities and other charities.

About us

CDS UK (Clinic for Dissociative Studies) is a specialist, national psychotherapy service and registered charity, offering outpatient psychotherapy and support to people with trauma-related dissociative disorders, including Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).

CDS UK is a charity and an independent provider to the NHS, subcontracted by ICBs and Health Boards nationally on a discretionary per-patient basis, where local mental health services are unable to provide appropriately specialist treatment. The client population seen at CDS UK are, almost without exception, survivors of extreme and complex developmental trauma, often abuse within organised groups. This is challenging but often deeply rewarding work. Specialist supervision, case managerial support and CPD are an essential part of working with this population and are provided by CDS UK.

Key Duties

Training the CDS UK Workforce (Core staff & Associates)

To review and refine an induction training programme for new staff and associates.

To develop, lead, coordinate and deliver a continuing professional development programme for all staff and associate, in conjunction with the senior team. This will include a training needs audit, developing and sourcing training materials, identifying the best methods of delivery, setting up training, securing attendees and evaluating the programme.

To identify, with the core team, topics that should be covered in a regular in-service training programme. This will include mandatory training such health and safety, information governance and other policy areas.

To work the Chief Executive and Chair of the Board of Trustees to identify the training needs of the Board of Trustees.

Training external professionals

To develop a training strategy for staff in the NHS, criminal justice system, local authorities, decision makers and policy leads (e.g. mental health commissioners, NHS England) and other charities, in conjunction with the Clinical Director and Director of Operations and Business. This will involve crystallising the ambition but also identifying priorities and realistic goals.

To agree the funding model underpinning the strategy

To deliver training that is appropriate for your skillset

To develop a training workforce to support with training delivery, i.e. identify staff, associates and others who have an interest in training and support them to develop their training skills.

To develop a simple marketing plan and business development process, e.g. standard ways of tracking marketing and of responding to training requests.

To develop training courses and materials (in conjunction with others) and to ensure experts with experience are involved.

To organise the delivery of training, with some administrative support from the administrative team.

To identify other partners (those with expertise in severe dissociative disorders) who CDS UK could potentially partner with to deliver the strategy and to work with the Chief Executive, Clinical Director and Director of Operations and Business to develop relationships and agreements with partners.

To develop evaluation materials and undertake end of training evaluation.

Experience

Essential

  • Post-qualification psychotherapeutic or clinical practice experience.
  • Registration with a recognised psychotherapeutic national body
  • e.g., UKCP/BACP/BPS/HCPC, or equivalent
  • Experience of long-term therapeutic work with people with Other Specified Dissociative Disorder (OSDD) and/or Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).
  • Experience of developing and successfully delivering training

Desirable

  • Experience and knowledge in how to support professionals in complex clinical work and people with childhood trauma including sexual abuse.
  • Experience of developing a training strategy.

Qualifications

  • A professional qualification at post-graduate level in psychotherapy, clinical psychology or the equivalent

Desirable

  • Additional training in trauma and severe dissociative disorders.
