Job summary
As a certified IHCD AEMT technician (or equivalent level 4 ambulance qualification), you will provide compassionate, professional and high-quality patient care while responding to both emergency and non-emergency patient transport situations. To provide the best quality care to our patients and uphold our high standards, you will operate within IHCD & JRCALC guidelines as well as well as have the ability to recognise any potential safeguarding issues and report accordingly.
Our ambulance crews are proud of providing a great patient experience, so you will ensure also that your vehicle and equipment is consistently maintained to an excellent standard. You will also help mentor and act as the clinical lead for lower-skilled grades.

Main duties of the job
As an IHCD Technician, you will have an IHCD Ambulance Technician certificate (or equivalent level 4 ambulance qualification, for this, you will receive over 6 weeks paid holiday (including bank holidays), a competitive salary and fantastic pension.
You must have;
- IHCD or Future Quals Emergency driving and a C1 entitlement on your driving licence
- An IHCD Ambulance Technician Certificate (or equivalent level 4 ambulance qualification)
- A minimum of one year experience of front-line emergency working.

Ambulance
Crew are responsible for the provision of high quality and effective clinical
care to the community, responding to a wide range of situations including
medical emergencies, inter-hospital transfers, urgent hospital admissions,
routine journeys and other allocated operational activities commensurate with
your role. You will drive a range of vehicles provided for by the SJA, under
both emergency and non-emergency conditions as required.
Transport,
assess and attend to patients and service users within the care of St John
Ambulance in accordance with policies and procedures.
Accurately
complete all documentation relating to patients, vehicles and equipment and
submitted in accordance with policies and procedures.
Provide
treatment and care up to the post-holders agreed clinical scope of practice
and customer requirements.
Take
relevant information at the scene, reporting to healthcare professional,
hospitals or others as required whilst ensuring patient confidentiality is
maintained.
Be
aware of the patients social and environmental condition and report any
matters of concern to the appropriate person or body.
Actively
participate in personal and environmental cleaning routines (including
vehicles, equipment and areas of the garaging facilities) to ensure that
infection prevention and control standards are adhered to.
Drive
all vehicles in accordance with the SJA driving policy while demonstrating
consideration for the comfort and safety of the patient.
Carry
out vehicle and equipment checks at the start of and during each shift to
ensure the readiness of the vehicle, equipment and consumables to respond as
required. Report all defects and damage in accordance with SJA policies and
procedures.
Achieve
and maintain competence in all relevant skills and knowledge, actively engage
in CPD events and keep a personal development portfolio.
To be
flexible by traveling between stations in another district within the region
to cover the required service. You will also be expected to work a shift
pattern and unsociable hours where required.
