Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Practice Manager to lead and
manage the operations of a busy APMS GP practice with a patient list size of
approximately 10,000 across two locations. The successful candidate will have a
strong background in healthcare and practice management, excellent leadership
skills, and the ability to effectively manage people, processes, and
performance in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
Job Overview
The Practice Manager for Partnerships for Health role sits within the
operational function reporting to the Head of Urgent and Primary care and
contributes to LCWs aim to deliver high quality care and excellent outcomes
for the patients its serves across the range of services LCW delivers.

Job summary
The practice works as part of the wider Imperial NHS Trust and the
post holder will need to develop strong working relationships with the Trust to
ensure good day to day management and to lead on developments with the Trust
teams. The practice manager will need to
attend Imperial meetings as part of the medical directorate as indicated by the
Trust and supported by the LCW team.
The role is part of the wider operational team and is expected to work
collaboratively with colleagues in functions across LCW. The Practice Manager may be asked to deputise
for Head of Urgent and Primary Care at meetings and during periods of
leave. The practice manager will be
expected to be part of the silver on call rota.

Key relationships include the executive Directors, clinical and governance team, LCW Heads Of post holders, substantively employed clinical staff, self-employed clinical staff, partner organisation Medical and Deputy Medical Directors/Leads, ICB Medical and Deputy Medical Directors, Health Education England and GP training hubs responsible for VTS, GP partners in joint ventures including but not limited to local providers, GP Federation Hubs, GPPA in NCL, Primary Care Networks and Local Authority Adult & Child Safeguarding Boards.
Role Responsibilities:
Operational Management
- Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of both practice sites.
- Develop and maintain effective operational systems, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee patient services, appointment systems, and administrative workflows.
- Ensure premises are maintained to a high standard and are compliant with health and safety legislation and aligned to Imperial NHS Trust requirements.
Strategic Leadership
- Support the GP Clinical Leads and LCW in achieving strategic goals.
- Lead change management initiatives to improve service delivery and efficiency.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of business plans
- Responsible for ensuring the practice has business continuity plans and that these are tested with the EPRR team.
- Keep up to date with national, London and ICB changes relating to general practice to ensure that the practice is aware and responding to changes and challenges.
- Lead transformation work at the practice with support from the LCW management team.
Staff and HR Management
- Lead, develop, and support a multidisciplinary team including administrative, reception, and clinical support staff.
- Manage recruitment, induction, appraisals, staff training, and performance management working with LCW HR team
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional development.
Finance and Budgeting
- Manage practice budgets and financial targets in collaboration with the finance team at LCW.
- Monitor income and expenditure, including QOF, LES, and DES income streams.
- Oversee payroll, supplier payments, and contract management for the practice linking into the LCW finance team.
Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure the practice complies with all regulatory and contractual obligations, including CQC, NHS England, and ICO requirements.
- Oversee complaint handling, incident reporting, and patient feedback processes.
- Ensure that the above are reported into radar and into Trust systems to ensure that both LCW and Imperial are sighted.
- Monitor clinical and non-clinical audits and ensure learning is embedded.
- Attend the LCW quality assurance group proving space to collaborate with colleagues on quality, safety and experience and providing the opportunity to discuss risks and issues.
IT and Digital Systems
- Oversee clinical and administrative IT systems (e.g., systemone, Docman, AccuRx, Patches).
- Promote the effective use of digital tools to support service delivery and access.
- Ensure data security, backup, and business continuity systems are in place.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent the practice at PCN meetings, locality forums, and other external bodies.
- Liaise with NHS England, ICB, secondary care providers, and other partners.
- Refresh approach to patient engagement and ensure that the practice has functioning Patient Participation Group (PPG).
Meeting Attendance:
Attend meetings, such as but not limited to:
- Imperial NHS Medical Directorate team
- Monthly Quality Assurance Meeting.
- Complaints and incident update meetings.
- External stakeholder meetings as required including PCN meetings
