Job summary

LCW is delighted to be working in collaboration with Imperial College and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Trusts following the successful award of the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) contracts. We are actively looking to recruit sessional or bank GPs for the following Urgent Treatment Centres:

  • West Middlesex UTC
  • St Mary's UTC

As a GP in the Urgent Treatment Centre, you will be part of the team delivering excellent care to one of the most diverse populations in Northwest London. You will be handling a wide case mix of medical cases and minor injuries within the scope of a typical GP in an Urgent Care Centre.

We are open to and welcome discussions around working a combination of weekday and weekend working patterns, if you wish to book in for set shifts or join our team on a permanent basis. We have shifts operating over a 24 hour period, with a specific need for GPs who are looking to work evenings, nights and weekends.

The hourly rate is £54.88 to £88.21, depending on the shift pattern chosen. Rates are enhanced on bank holidays. In addition, you will be able to opt into the NHS pension scheme. For more information, please contact Nicola Dawson on nicola.dawson13@nhs.net

Main duties of the job

Job Role:

  • Portfolio - youll get a wealth of exposure to lots of different aspects/departments within the system. Add to your skills and strengthen areas where you dont have expertise.
  • Leadership skills - youll train other colleagues and will need to show leadership to the wider clinical team. Youll have access to comprehensive training and development to ensure you get the most out of the role and develop in your career
  • Strategic Value - our service is GP-led so youll play a key role in the delivery of high-quality urgent care contributing to the effective overall performance of the urgent treatment centre. You will play an integral role in how we develop our innovative, digital-first NHS service.
  • Experience through working in our UTCs - youll have exposure to the most interesting urgent care centres in London with full support from our clinical leadership team and the Trusts.
  • Flexible working work as and when you want e.g., condensed days or shift patterns. All we ask is that you can be flexible too!

About us

London Central and West (LCW) was founded in 1994 out of a local GP cooperative and has evolved into one of London's largest and most successful providers of Integrated Urgent Care services covering a resident population of around 4.6 million. In 2014 LCW became a certified Social Enterprise/Community Benefit Society providing further assurance that our funds are spent solely on delivering and improving services to our patients.

LCW is a clinically led, social enterprise provider of integrated urgent and primary care services to the NHS. We provide services across northwest and north central London. We ensure our multidisciplinary team of GPs, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists and support staff have the skills, technology, and infrastructure to provide the highest standard of care.

Job description

Job responsibilities

You will be a valued member of our GP team who uses experience in managing acute illness and minor injury to deliver excellent patient care. You will be able to work in an Urgent Treatment Centre setting to treat adult and paediatric patients with a range of presentations. In practice, this will mean:

  • Treating patients who have been streamed to UTC following an initial triage.
  • You will need to be able to manage at least 3 cases per hour.
  • Accurately eliciting the history of an event / illness including past medical and drug history.
  • Evaluating clinical information from history and examination so that you can arrange for appropriate investigations and treatment.
  • You will re-direct patients to primary and community care settings where required.
  • Following organisational medicines management policy.
  • Working collaboratively with streaming nurses, ANPs, physician associates and other members of a multidisciplinary team to deliver national and local targets.
  • You will ensure that there is an appropriate real-time documented record of every patients attendance.
  • Engaging with the senior governance team regarding any incidents and complaints as well as the need for clinical audit/research.
  • You will take responsibility for equipment and supplies ensuring the NHS resources are used appropriately and efficiently
