There is an exciting opportunity to join our evolving and growing organisation in a role as an Integrated Single Point of Access (iSPA) Wellbeing Practitioner. We are excited to be able to offer this permanent position to join our new developing integrated single point of access, working in partnership with Bromley CAMHS.

The first year will be maternity cover with a view to continuing in the iSPA with possible options to also work in one of our other services.

This is an opportunity for a skilled practitioner who has experience of triage, risk screening and working with children & young people presenting with emotional and mental health difficulties. They will be part of a newly formed iSPA team. The successful post-holder will work with young people from diverse backgrounds and should be committed to diversity and ensuring access to services for all.

Much of the work will be carried out from home with the opportunity to see some children and young people at Ethelbert Road or in different community settings. The post holder must be prepared to be flexible in their working arrangements to ensure that all children and young people can access support at a time which suits their needs. Work in our other services may require occasional Saturday working.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an integral part of the Bromley Single Point of Access (iSPA), delivered in partnership with Bromley CAMHS. The integrated SPA will manage all referrals for children and young people with mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties in Bromley. You will work within the team to provide efficient and effective delivery of the iSPA Service.

You will contribute to the development of early intervention and prevention service in Bromley for Children and Young People. The post represents an opportunity for a qualified practitioner, who is committed to the principles of CYP IAPT and THRIVE, to further their career. The post holder will provide support to children and young people and undertake screening, and triage calls to help identify their needs and develop an agreed plan, presenting these to a multi-agency meeting if required. The post-holder will work with young people from diverse backgrounds and should be committed to diversity and ensuring access to services for all. Post-holders who hold a professional qualification will be allocated interventions to maintain their qualification requirements.

Job responsibilities

1. MAIN DUTIES

To provide an evidenced based service for children and young people as part of early identification and intervention for children and young people with emotional and mental health needs.

Undertake agreed triage & screening calls with children and young people and their parents which addresses areas where the young person/ parent wishes to see change and/ or recovery.

To identify, monitor and manage risk to self or others in every contact with a client.

Provide a range of options including evidence-based psychological interventions, whether provided by Bromley Y or partners. This work may be face to face, on the telephone or via other media.

Adhere to an agreed activity relating to the number of appointments offered each week as agreed with the iSPA leadership team.

Complete all data entry as required within the service and to keep up to date and clear records of all interventions in line with service policies and procedures.

To work across agencies to develop a coordinated response to children and young peoples mental health needs offering consultation and advice to other professionals on all aspects of mental health and wellbeing of children and their families.

To provide support and psycho education to direct children and their families whilst they await further, if required interventions to meet their emotional needs.

To be part of the iSPAs growth as a relatively new integrated single part of access.

2. PRACTICE RESPONSIBILITIES

To decide on an appropriate course of action with the professionals involved, providing advice, support and knowledge of appropriate resources for the emotional wellbeing of children and their families.

To carry out joint and/or individual triage assessments of children and families.

To provide support and guidance to others with the aim of improving skills, knowledge and facilitating reflective practice.

Manage own workload through both practice and managerial supervision.

To participate in team and service meetings as required.

To work alongside others to demonstrate knowledge and skills to plan and critically evaluate the implementation of the early intervention role to meet the mental health needs of children and young people.

To contribute to the evaluation of all areas of service delivery, client and professional satisfaction and the impact of interventions.

3. EDUCATION AND TRAINING

To ensure knowledge and skills are continuously developed and maintained at a high level of competence.

To identify training needs through supervision and personal development plans.

To deliver training services/workshops and to take part in their evaluation.

4. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

To work with others to develop practice protocols and audit tools, to collect the relevant statistical information to underpin service evaluation and record keeping.

To ensure all interventions are evidence based.

To implement national audit tools and review with colleagues nationally and locally.

To be key in obtaining service user views and feedback on support provided to ensure the delivery of accessible provision.

To comply with relevant professional codes of conduct.

To contribute to establishing essential networks, knowledge base of resources and maintain links with relevant community organisations.

To contributing to identifying service needs and gaps across with regard to childrens mental health and wellbeing.

Develop skills in service evaluation and audit to ensure the overall development of the service.

To maintain awareness of up-to-date research and development pertaining to advances in child and young peoples emotional wellbeing and mental health issues.

5. GENERAL

Keep accurate and appropriate records, providing information for monitoring and evaluation as required.

Participate in, and actively contribute to, individual supervision, training and team meetings as required.

Work in accordance with the services objectives and values.

Comply with all organisational policies, and in particular to ensure safe, fair and responsible working practices

Undertake duties to ensure the health and safety of post-holder, colleagues, service users and visitors.

Work flexibly, being prepared to perform other duties commensurate with the role.

Actively support and promote any fundraising activities as part of the day-to-day duties.
