Job summary
This is an opportunity to join a passionate, creative MHST with excellent school engagement placed within a third-sector service who place young people and families at the heart of everything we do. Our base is in central Bromley and we come together in the office one day per week to ensure everyone feels connected and supported with both their work and their wellbeing.
The Wellbeing Practitioner post is a diverse role which involves delivering evidenced-based interventions for mild-moderate mental health difficulties, liaising with schools and partner agencies, and facilitating psychoeducational events. In addition to managing your own caseload of clients, you will act as the Bromley Y link for a number of primary and secondary schools to provide consultation, signposting and support development of bespoke Whole School Approaches to mental health in line with schools individual needs.
The right person(s) will be hard-working and enthusiastic with the ability to work flexibly and creatively with young people, parents/carers and school staff to achieve their goals. They will enjoy collaborating with colleagues and feel confident sharing ideas and seeking solutions. They will look forward to new challenges and be keen to develop their professional skill set.
Main duties of the job
To contribute to the development of early intervention and prevention service in Bromley for Children and Young People. The post represents an opportunity for a qualified practitionerto further their career. In addition to managing their own caseload, the post holder will provide guidance and support to children, young people and their families through workshops and small groups to provide them with information on how to maintain their emotional wellbeing. The post-holder will work closely with schools in Bromley borough to support delivery of the three core functions of Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs):
Evidence-based interventions for mild-moderate mental health issues.
Supporting introduction or development of whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing.
Providing timely advice to school and college staff and liaising with external specialist services to help children and young people to get the right support.
Work will be carried out digitally from home, in schools and some community settings to ensure in-reach to young people who would not normally access services.
The post-holder will work with young people from diverse backgrounds and should be committed to diversity and ensuring access to services for all. The post holder must be prepared to be flexible in their working arrangements to ensure that all children and young people can access support at a time which suits their needs.

Bromley Y is a long-established charity which runs the Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Service for Children and Young People in Bromley. We are a supportive, inclusive, collaborative organisation wich has an opportunity for two experienced mental health practitioners, counsellor or equivalent to join our Mental Health Support Teams on a full-time contract. Bromley Y is organised around the needs-led iThrive Model and operates an Integrated Single Point of Access with our partners in CAMHS to ensure children and young people receive the right support at the right time. Our MHSTs are well-established (2x Trailblazer, 1x Wave 6) and work together to support primary and secondary schools across Bromley borough.
The service has a diverse offer for young people and families, with evidence-based 1:1 and group interventions, workshops, webinars, mentoring, social prescribing and parent-support. We champion the voices of young people, actively seeking feedback from clients, facilitating user participation groups and empowering our Youth Ambassadors to lead on community outreach.
