Job summary

This exciting role will play a part in ensuring the delivery of highly specialised psychological interventions to clients undergoing drug-assisted therapy, working on a sessional basis.

Working within a holistic person-centred approach, you will provide psychological interventions, within the parameters of the Awakn treatment approach, to clients with long-stranding difficulties with varying complexity.

You will be passionate about supporting clients with complex mental health needs using innovative treatment methodology.

Main duties of the job

Based within a specially designed trauma-informed workspace in the heart of Bloomsbury, we offer specialised treatment to our private clients, providing ketamine-assisted therapy for a range of mental health issues including depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, eating disorders and alcohol addiction.

Job responsibilities

Role Purpose

To work as a sessional member of the multidisciplinary clinical team providing specialist ketamine-assisted psychotherapy to clients attending Awakn clinics.

To be responsible for delivering psychological interventions to adult clients (age 18+) with a range of long-standing mental health difficulties, including anxiety disorders, depression, eating disorders, PTSD and substance use problems.

To work autonomously within the parameters of the Awakn treatment approach and within professional guidelines under the supervision of a Practitioner Psychologist.

Key duties and activities of the role

To work as a therapist within a multidisciplinary team to provide psychotherapeutic assessment, formulation and interventions for Awakn clients with a range of complex psychological difficulties, practicing at a high level of clinical expertise and within relevant Codes of Practice and ethical guidelines.

To draw on the Awakn conceptual therapeutic framework to formulate and offer a therapeutic intervention for a range of mental health difficulties using a specific evidence-based model for ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP).

To continue to develop skills and undertake training as appropriate.

To receive regular supervision from a senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist and attend peer supervision.

To work flexibly to enable the delivery of effective services. This may include undertaking other duties as appropriate to the role, e.g., attending MDT meetings, contributing to client assessments and participating in service development activities.

Essential

  • Passion for working with complex and long-standing mental health and/or substance
  • misuse services or with other socially excluded or vulnerable groups.
  • Appropriate training and registration (e.g., Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology
  • and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), or UKCP/BACP
  • registered therapist with core professional qualification.
  • At least 2 years qualified experience in therapeutic practice.
  • Desirable experience of working with people in altered states.
  • Knowledge and experience of third-wave cognitive-behavioural therapies and their
  • clinical application; e.g., Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical
  • Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Compassion
  • Focused Therapy (CFT).
  • Experience in the psychological assessment and treatment of people with mental health
  • problems, of varying severity, using formulation to inform psychological interventions.
