Job responsibilities
Role Purpose
Provide high quality pharmacy leadership and oversight
across all Via service types (including adult and young people community and
inpatient substance use services) as part of a multi-disciplinary leadership
team.
Be responsible for the organisations pharmacists,
pharmacy technicians, trainees and associated placements.
Key duties
and activities of the role
Work as a registered pharmacist and independent
prescriber, to provide excellent leadership, developmental and practice
development support and supervision.
Have oversight of the delivery of pharmacological
interventions across Via services, including medicines optimisation and the
management of controlled drugs and associated stationary.
Act as the designated Medicines Safety Officer and
Controlled Drug Accountable Officer and be the Responsible Person for Home
Office licences.
Have oversight of medicines optimisation processes to
ensure that they are in line with all relevant legislation, best practice
guidance, professional/CQC standards and organisational documents.
Assist in the development of systems, pathways and
documents that promote holistic delivery of pharmacological interventions and
medicines management processes.
Be responsible for the organisations formulary,
prescribing resources, alert cascade processes, medicines procurement/supply
issues and Patient Group Directions.
Support clinical and operational modelling across all
adult and young people service types, supporting the development and delivery
of high quality, high impact, value for money intervention and programme
delivery.
Support oversight of pharmacy/medicines-related
training, including the development of pharmacy professionals and the embedding
of trainee roles and student placements and developing links with relevant
training providers.
Use theory, evidence-based literature and research to
support evidence-based practice in own work and work with colleagues.
Demonstrate leadership and undertake managerial
responsibilities, ensuring effective use of resources (including staffing,
consideration of financial and contractual issues) relating to pharmacological
interventions.
Promote and support organisational interface for
pharmacological intervention provision (including Universities, community
pharmacy, LPCs, commissioners and other providers).
Be involved in and where appropriate take
responsibility for relevant audits, ongoing monitoring and implementation of
associated recommendations/action plans.
Contribute to the collation and use of data relating
to pharmacological interventions and have responsibility for subsequent
improvements required, relating to quality/performance indicators.
Contribute to the reporting, investigating and
resolution of incidents, complaints and disciplinary matters to reduce the risk
of recurrence.
Provide competency assessment and training of
staff/students/volunteers/partner agencies, identify and support development
needs of others and support direct reports to develop in their roles to deliver
excellent services.
Undertake continuing professional development to
maintain confidence and competence, to meet organisational and GPhC
revalidation requirements.
To provide a pharmacological perspective and expert
pharmacy advice for multidisciplinary team activities (including clinical care,
team dynamics, team organisational systems, promotional activities) within a
wide range of settings including MDT meetings, case discussions, team meetings,
and group supervision.
Work alongside management and their direct reports to
effectively support a one team approach.
