We are looking for a GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician to join our expanding clinical team. Ideally, you will have a minimum of two years post qualification experience, although we are open to conversations with all suitably qualified candidates. Experience of working within substance misuse would be an advantage, although we will also consider transferrable experience from other sectors.

Main duties of the job

Via offers community and residential services for substance use, as well as ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. We nurture new ideas, put co-production at the heart of what we do, and provide clinicians with the support to explore and grow. This role will be based in the well-established clinical team at Passmores House. The role reports to the Service Manager and will receive regular clinical supervision from a specialist pharmacy professional. The post holder will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective medicines optimisation processes, supporting the team to ensure compliance with legislative, best practice and regulatory requirements. Job description

Job responsibilities

Role Purpose

To provide high quality medicines optimisation services to people who use substances to designated via services, and contribute to the overall performance of the designated service(s) to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved.

Key duties and activities of the role

Correctly administer and dispense medicines.

Ensure safe and appropriate access to medicines and ancillary devices, including appropriate stock management.

Ensure that all medicines and related documents (including controlled drugs/stationary) are appropriately managed (including safe and secure storage, staff training, ordering, management of supplies and transportation).

Support access to and appropriate use of information relating to the use of medication and ancillary devices.

Support the delivery of health and wellbeing interventions as appropriate.

Support the delivery of counselling on the use of medication and ancillary devices to improve adherence.

Promote and support organisational interface with suppliers, primary and secondary care services (including wholesalers, community pharmacy and hospitals respectively).

Contribute to (medicines/drug/devices) alert responses in collaboration with the Clinical Department.

Be involved in and where appropriate take responsibility for relevant audits, ongoing monitoring and implementation of associated recommendations/action plans.

Contribute to the collation and use of data and any subsequent improvements required, relating to quality/performance indicators.

Support the reporting, investigating and resolution of incidents, complaints and disciplinary matters to reduce the risk of recurrence.

Support the development needs of others where appropriate e.g. assist with the induction of new staff, deliver training/educational sessions relating to the use of medicines and support student/volunteer placements.

Undertake continuing professional development to maintain confidence and competence, to meet organisational requirements and maintain GPhC revalidation.

Work in line with all relevant legislation, best practice guidance, professional and CQC standards and organisational documents.

Where appropriate, provide line management/clinical supervision to enable direct reports to develop in their roles to deliver excellent services.

Work alongside management and their direct reports to effectively support a one team approach.
