Job summary

Location:Home working and travel to various community venues across Newcastle

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual with strong interpersonal skills to join us as a Community Link Worker, working on a flexible bank hours contract. You will be working for our Chain Reaction service, which is commissioned by Newcastle City Council and supports older people (55+) to live independently in the community. This role offers a real alternative to building-based day services; the service is flexible and personalised and works with older people to support them in deciding what they would like to achieve and how to make this happen. The service offers a variety of support, from sorting out financial worries to organising outings.

Previous work experience is not essential and applications from people who have lived experience of mental health issues are encouraged.

About you

  • Good communication skills (verbal, written and fluency in English)
  • Very good organisational and time management skills, able to manage and prioritise work
  • Very good interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop good working relationships
  • Enthusiastic and motivated
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office & Internet)
  • Able and willing to regularly work independently without direct management supervision
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable, not essential)
