We have a brand new and exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Officer to join our Estates and Sustainability team in Newcastle!
This is a full-time, 24-month, fixed term contact, Monday to Friday.
About the job
As a Sustainability Programme Officer, you will support the Net Zero & Sustainability Lead to deliver a programme of sustainability across the organisation, embedding a culture of change and reducing our impact on the environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of mental healthcare and the climate crisis, ideal for a person passionate about sustainability who can work across multiple teams.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects within the sustainability programme that support our net zero targets and align with the UN sustainable development goals.
- Deputise for the NZ & Sustainability Lead as necessary including reporting on monthly progress.
- Co-ordinate organisation-wide data collection to monitor progress against sustainability key performance indicators and enable regular internal and external reporting.
- Engage, enthuse and empower colleagues to deliver more sustainable services that reduce our impact on the environment.
- Play an active role in promoting procedural change and sharing best practice with colleagues across the organisation (e.g. procurement, waste management, business travel).
- Work with our internal communications team to develop project-specific communication plans for the delivery of the sustainability programme.
- Assist with grant funding applications for sustainability projects.
- Review supply chain information to identify carbon reduction opportunities and maximise social value creation.
- Support achievement of external accreditations (Investors in Environment, ISO 50001/14001 etc)
