Job summary

We are looking for self-motivated Senior Link Worker to support our Waiting List Support Service across North Cumbria.

This post is fixed term for 12 months (with possibility of extension), and we will consider up to 37.5 hours per week. As a Senior Link Worker, you will assist the Service Manager in managing a team of link workers to support individuals who have Severe Mental Illness (SMI) who are often facing many challenges.

Main duties of the job

This service is funded to alleviate current pressures in the NHS and will specifically work with people with SMI who are on the waiting list for treatment from statutory services or have recently been discharged and require wrap around support to help them manage their day to day lives during periods of instability in their mental health.

You will have experience of coaching, supervision, supporting a team to achieve service objectives and managing individual and team wellbeing and morale.

About You

  • To be successful in this role you will need to be self-motivated, with a good up to date knowledge of the issues affecting our clients.
  • Ability to effectively manage and organize your workload.
  • Good networking, interpersonal and relationship building skills are essential.
  • Ability to manage own wellbeing whilst ensuring a high standard of service delivery.

The role will entail some home working alongside community work. The hours will mainly be office hours during the working week with some evening and weekend work dependent on service needs.

  • Previous leadership and team management experience, preferably within mental health field.
  • Able to coach and develop staff.
  • Experience of service auditing in the context of improving and developing service delivery.
  • Good report writing skills, with the ability to collate, analyse and present data clearly and concisely.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, able to manage and prioritise own workload.
  • Work without direct supervision, using own initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to develop good working relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent IT skills, able to use Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Word.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements, across Cumbria and attending meetings at Esh Plaza in Newcastle.
  • Knowledge of local VCSE organisations and statutory service pathways.
  • Worked with people who have enduring and complex mental health issues.
