We
currently have a vacancy for a bank nurse (minimum one shift a month) at our Hyperbaric Centre in Plymouth.
We are looking to appoint enthusiastic registered nurses.
Applicants
must be RNA/RN1 qualified with a minimum of three year post registration
employment at band 5 equivalent or above. Experience of wound care would be
advantageous. Recent and ongoing critical care experience is desirable but not
essential.

Main Purpose of Job:
- Provide quality care for patients attending DDRC Healthcare. Provide hyperbaric skills (as developed) and clinical care for patients, including critically ill patients requiring hyperbaric oxygen.
- To act in accordance with NMC standards, comply with revalidation requirements and ensure that registration and indemnity cover are valid.
- Participate in conducting research and development as required by Line Manager.
- Participate in undertaking routine medical examinations as required.
Responsible to: Senior Clinical Nurse
Responsible for:
- The assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of quality care for patients at DDRC Healthcare.
- Taking an active role in developing team working methods, assisting in the development and maintenance of good staff morale.
- Supervision of Student Nurses, and other paramedic or medical trainees at DDRC Healthcare in agreement with Senior Clinical Nurse.

DDRC Healthcare is a UK registered charity (no.279652), established originally in 1980 as the Diving Diseases Research Centre (DDRC). We deliver our services from the purpose built Hyperbaric Medical Centre adjacent to Derriford Hospital, our primary aim is to promote and take part in the medical treatment, training and research associated with the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO or HBOT). HBO involves patients breathing 100% oxygen whilst inside a pressurised treatment chamber. We also have two subsidiary companies, DDRC Professional Services and DDRC Medical Services.
We work closely with our colleagues in the Brain Research Imaging Centre and the NHS, and we are a centre of excellence providing Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. DDRC Professional Services offers a wide range of training which brings in customers from around the world and DDRC Medical Services provides occupational medicals for the offshore and maritime industries. Job responsibilities
Main Tasks:
- General Nursing duties within the Centre and other duties as instructed by the Senior Nurse.
- Actively participating in clinical governance procedures.
- Maintaining clinical stock levels.
- Auditing and undertaking wound care using an evidence base.
- Working autonomously within appropriate guidelines.
- Hyperbaric chamber attendant as negotiated and considered appropriate.
- Assessment of patients prior to treatment.
- Liaison with administration and clinical staff to ensure seamless patient episodes.
- Undertaking Hospital Liaison visits to in-patients in the Plymouth area in line with staffing constraints within the Hyperbaric Medical Centre.
- Undertaking CPD / reasonable steps to ensure that nursing skills and competencies are up to date.
- Participation in the on-call rota if appropriate and required.
- Assisting with preliminary examinations for occupational and recreational medicals as required and following appropriate training.
- Assist with training and supervision of non-clinical staff.
