Job summary

Finance Manager, DDRC Healthcare

Are you a qualified accountant looking for a new challenge in the charity / not for profit / healthcare sector? If so, this could be the post for you.

Hours per week: 20

Salary: £50k - £55k (pro rata) dependant on experience

Working location: DDRC Healthcare PL6 8BU, hybrid working may be considered but is not guaranteed.

The post is part time (circa 20 hours per week) working with DDRC Healthcare and its subsidiaries, as part of a committed and dedicated small team.

Main duties of the job

The work is varied, with a focus both on managing the finances in an operational sense but also providing strategic expertise to the management team, enabling the organisation to move forward and explore new ideas. This role is also the Company Secretary for both the charity and the subsidiaries As part of the management team you will be involved in setting meaningful budgets and KPIs. About us

DDRC Healthcare is a UK registered charity (no.279652), established originally in 1980 as the Diving Diseases Research Centre (DDRC). We deliver our services from the purpose built Hyperbaric Medical Centre adjacent to Derriford Hospital, Our primary aim is to promote and take part in the medical treatment, training and research associated with the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO or HBOT). HBO involves patients breathing 100% oxygen whilst inside a pressurised treatment chamber. We also have two subsidiary companies, DDRC Professional Services and DDRC Medical Services.

As a charity our objectives are agreed with the Charity Commission and determine what we can do and what we can spend money on. You can find out more about our objectives and performance on theCharity Commission website. As a not-for-profit organisation we are contributing to the social economy. Any surpluses generated are re-invested in delivery of our charitable objectives.

Finance Manager

Main Purpose of Job:

Control of all aspects of the financial management of the Charity's operations and its subsidiaries

Consideration of the effectiveness of systems and controls and development of improvements

Supporting the Trustees and Chief Executive in their overall financial control of the Charity.

Responsible to:

Chief Executive Officer.

Responsible for:

Be an active member of the Leadership Team

Preparation of monthly management accounts, statutory accounts and various other regular management reports and analyses

Preparation and analysis of forecasts

Management of cash flow and investments

Responsibility for the functions of

Sales ledger, credit control and accounts receivable

Purchasing and stock management

Payroll inc. pensions and organisation healthcare scheme

VAT

Development of bookkeeping and accounting systems - controls and procedures

Responsible for returns to and compliance with HMRC, Companies House, Charity Commission etc.

Evaluation of new business opportunities

Responsible for various contracts including insurance and utilities.

Line management of Finance Assistant

Continuing professional development of Finance team

The post holder will act as Company Secretary, be in attendance at the Charity's Trustee meetings and be responsible for producing the minutes.

The post holder must work to the DDRC organisational values.

Other Matters:

DDRC is a registered charity and as such must comply with Charity Legislation as well as Company Law. The person in this role will be expected to be fully acquainted with the requirements of Charity Legislation in particular in demonstrating the public accountability of the Charity.

The post holder is expected to also be the Company Secretary for DDRC and its subsidiaries.

The post holderwill undertake a DBS check.

Every staff member is responsible for their own safety, and that of colleagues and visitors, whilst undertaking DDRC business.

To develop policies and systems designed to provide the charity with a sound financial platform from which to develop the existing and new services.

Qualifications required:

A recognised Professional Body accountancy qualification, e.g. ACMA
