Job summary

NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE OF HYPERBARIC MEDICINE REQUIRED, FULL TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED

We currently have a vacancy for bank nurses (minimum one shift a month) at our Hyperbaric Centre in Plymouth. We are looking to appoint enthusiastic registered nurses.

The post is subject to the successful completion of a HSE Diving Medical. This is a clinical area with excellent learning opportunities. Download the job description for more information

Main duties of the job

Applicants must be RNA/RN1 qualified with a minimum of one year post registration employment at band 5 equivalent or above. Experience of wound care would be advantageous. Recent and ongoing critical care experience is desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working semi-autonomously in managing patient care and general unit/ward level administration.
  • Current acute care knowledge and experience.
  • Minimum of one year of experience post qualification.

Desirable

  • Experience of hyperbaric chamber environment. Diving experience.
  • Interest in clinical research.
  • Recent critical care experience (to include A&E, ICU, HDU).
  • Experience of dealing with maxillofacial patients.
  • Knowledge of wound care management.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Valid first level Registration.
  • Current basic life support training

  • Evidence of supervising or mentoring nursing students and other allied health professionals.
  • Current ILS and paediatric basic life support training

Skills

Essential

  • Good time management.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and electronic patient records.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Willingness to undertake any necessary training.
  • Willingness to train as Chamber attendant.
  • Willingness to contribute to in service training and patient education.
  • Personal fitness to pass HSE medical
  • Availability for bank work

Desirable

  • Willingness to train and undertake preliminary examinations for diving medicals.
