Job summary

We have exciting opportunities to join our Workflow Optimisation Hub as a Coder. The Programme employs non-clinical staff to relieve GP's of some of their non-patient facing workload.

This role is home based. Induction and training will be provided virtually.

Initially the role will be a 6 month fixed term contract. Agreed hours can be worked flexibly.

You will need to have good communication skills and have the ability to work quickly whilst maintaining attention to detail. Experience of primary clinical coding using Docman and EMIS Web is essential.

Only applicants with experience in Docman and EMIS Web will be considered for interview.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Coder is to provide an efficient coding service to the Workflow Optimisation Hub. You will need to ensure that clinical information is accurately and efficiently recorded from clinical letters.

Job responsibilities

1. To provide an efficient coding service to the Workflow Optimisation Hub

2. Undertake clinical coding tasks specific to each individual practice, when required

3. To carefully read, accurately extract and interpret, sometimes complex medical data from clinical letters and add to patients medical records

4. To work mainly on own initiative, but referring more complex issues to a Supervisor or Manager

5. To meet deadlines for completion of coding

6. To become proficient in the use of EMISWEB and DOCMAN systems, along with NHS Clinical Codes following extensive training

7. To liaise and work with a variety of different teams and clinicians across practices to streamline the handling of incoming mail

8. To support the management team with detailed feedback to assist in the development of both your own role and the improvement and evolution of the programme as a whole

9. To ensure that strict confidentiality is maintained at all times when dealing with patients case notes and computerised data as set out under the Data Protection Act

10. Any other duties required by the grade and requested by your line manager
