We are looking for a Psychologist with a passion for working with individuals and groups who face inequalities in accessing substance use and / or mental health services; and for developing services that are fully responsive to their needs.

You will also be experienced in supporting staff (psychologists and/or non-qualified staff) who are working with clients who experience complex trauma, substance use and homelessness to foster psychological ideas and interventions.

You will hold a doctorate level qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology and be registered with the HCPC.

Main duties of the job

St Mungo's Assertive Contact and Engagement (ACE) Service works with people with mental health needs who face barriers to support, and are not actively engaged with other mental health services. We operate across Bristol supporting people and communities that may have had difficulty accessing services that fully meet their needs in the past.

We are launching a new service specifically aimed at those who are homeless, who have substance use issues and mental health needs. The service will offer a range of therapeutic support for those who would struggle to access mainstream psychological interventions.

The service will consist of yourself, a psychological therapist and an engagement worker. In this role, you will:

  • provide psychological guidance and advice to colleagues
  • supervise the therapist and students
  • work collaboratively with the wider ACE team
  • shape the service and how psychological interventions are delivered within it
  • be involved in the service evaluation, to evidence effectiveness
  • provide therapeutic interventions to clients where capacity allows

About us

At St Mungo's our vision is that everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions. As a homelessness charity and housing association, our clients are at the heart of what we do, and in 2019 2020 we supported 32,800 people across all of our services. Our staff are crucial to making this happen.
