Job summary

St Margaret's Hospice Care has a fantastic opportunity for a Housekeeper to join their team. This role is based in Taunton. You will join us on a 30 hour per week part time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £18,771.89 per annum plus 14% unsocial hours enhancement.

Joining our Housekeeping team in Taunton on a basis, you will play a key role in our clinical service by providing and maintaining a high level of cleanliness which meets national standard. Ensuring the smooth day to day running of the hospice, you will create a clean, safe and comfortable environment for all.

Diligent and conscientious, you will have a strong team work ethic and attention to detail. This role requires you to have a level 2 in healthcare and support or be willing to attain a QCF level 2.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities as our Housekeeper will include:

  • Following NHS cleaning standards and national colour coding to meet current audit standards are met and maintain cleaning schedule records
  • Cleaning all areas of the hospice, following cleaning schedules and keeping records up to date
  • Maintaining and effectively using cleaning equipment and supplies.

Adhere to NHS cleaning standards and national colour coding to ensure current audit standards are met and maintain cleaning schedule records

Clean all areas of the hospice, ensuring cleaning schedules are followed and accurate records are kept

To use skills and knowledge to ensure the safe and effective use of cleaning equipment

Ensure all cleaning equipment is left clean and in a safe working condition.

Ensure the usage of all cleaning chemicals are in line with manufacturers recommendations

Report any defects in equipment and remove from service via Estates defect log

Replenish all consumable products as necessary.

Maintain adequate cleaning and hygiene supplies and liaising with suppliers, checking delivery against advice note and maintain related records.

Ensure a timely and accurate response to cleaning requests.

Ensure patient dignity and privacy is always respected.

Work autonomously and part of the team

Demonstrate good organisational skills and be able to prioritise effectively to meet the needs of the service

Demonstrate you have empathy with the work of the hospice and a genuine care for patients, relatives, visitors, and staff.

Assist with the induction of new staff and be a supportive and effective mentor. Take reasonable care of your health and safety and that of others when working with equipment, e.g., floor cleaning equipment, moving furniture, and manoeuvring loaded cleaning trolley.

Handle and dispose of hazardous, domestic, recyclable, and confidential waste in line with Department of Health 07-01 Safe Management of Healthcare Waste and Hospice Health & Safety Policy.

Report incident, near miss and accident via electronic recording system
