Job summary

St Margaret's Hospice Care has a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Clinical Governance to join our team. This role will include cross county work and travel and have a base at our Taunton site. You will join us on a full time (37.5 hours per week), permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £54,150 per annum (St Margaret's Hospice pay grade B/Equivalent to AfC Band 8a).

The Head of Clinical Governance is responsible for leading and managing the clinical governance framework within the organization, ensuring high standards of care and patient safety.

Main duties of the job

Reporting directly to the Clinical Director, you will:

  • Drive the strategic development, implementation, and monitoring of clinical governance policies and practices to meet regulatory standards and improve service quality.
  • Lead and be responsible for developing the patient experience agenda of the organisation.
  • Spearhead initiatives to foster a culture of excellence in clinical practice through continuous practice improvement, risk management, and staff development.
  • Act as our patient safety specialist, developing the Quality Inclusion (QI)culture and delivering the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).

To be considered for this role you will need to be a qualified Health Care professional with relevant current professional registration (e.g. NMC, GMC, ACP) or a qualified patient safety specialist.

  • Proven post registration experience.
  • Significant experience in quality, safety & governance roles
  • Experience of people & operational management experience in a health care setting. Evidence of management and leadership CPD.
  • Proven clinical Audit & Practice/Quality Improvement experience
  • Experience of managing change in a health care environment
  • Significant experience of writing policies & procedures

Desirable

  • Qualified to MSc level or equivalent
  • Experience in End-of-Life Care
  • PSII training
  • Qualification in risk management/patient safety

Self Awareness

Essential

  • Qualified executive coach/coach or willing to work towards
  • Experience of teaching and presenting to diverse groups
  • Clear understanding of the Care Quality Commission & the fundamental standards within the Health & Social Care Act.
  • Experience of working with user groups & collating views.

  • Level 7 or above coaching qualification
  • Budget management
