Job summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistants/GP assistants to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals in a GP setting assisting with daily living activities and ensuring the highest standards of care undertaking clinical tasks in line with the job specification. Your ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with healthcare professionals will be vital in delivering personalised care plans tailored to everyones needs.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate phlebotomy procedures.
  • NHS health checks
  • Dipping urine, taking BP, pulse, weight and recording MI
  • Act as formal chaperone.
  • Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments for patients.
  • Preparing patients prior to seeing the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment
  • Processing investigation results on behalf of GP's following protocol workflow procedures to expedite the patients clinical journey.
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients
  • Helping the GP to arrange admission while the GP continues consulting.
  • Participation in annual individual performance review including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development.
  • Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work.
  • Complete mandatory training and attend all relevant annual updates required to perform clinical duties.
  • Inform the Service Manager of any concerns regarding HCA / GPA role and any professional development needed.
  • Undertake HCA Competency Framework training if not already achieved.
  • Be aware of own professional boundaries and what to do when you have reached them.

Wigan GP Alliance is a well-established Primary Care provider within the Borough of Wigan and Leigh, established in 2015 to respond to the Prime Ministers Challenge Fund. The Alliance has grown to deliver its core services and extended its delivery to provide many more services and additional support for the whole Borough, reacting when required to in time of need.

We provide services across the whole Borough to a number of fixed locations.
