SignHealthis a passionate and unique Deaf led charity, committed to creating a future where there are no barriers to good health and wellbeing for Deaf people.Our Psychological Therapies Service delivers NHS Englands National BSL Therapies Service (formerly known as IAPT).
We deliver therapy directly in British Sign Language (BSL) to Deaf patients without the need for interpreters. We support people who are having difficulty coping and who may be experiencing a common mental health problem such as depression, anxiety, or phobia.
Applicants must be fluent in BSL, this must be demonstrated on your application and will be further tested at the interview, applications that do not demonstrate fluency in BSL will not be considered.
The HI CBT position is for someone who has completed a Post Graduate Diploma Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or BABCP recognised qualification. Must have current registration/ Accreditation with professional body BABCP (or working towards accreditation).
Main duties of the job
As a HI CBT you will: -
Undertake patient-centred assessments.
Identify areas where the person wishes to change how they feel, think or behave, developing personalised treatment plans to help treat patients who have a range of mental health conditions.
Carry out thorough risk assessments.
Work within the service using a range of evidence-based psychological interventions, based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions, online CBT treatment programmes and online/face to face psycho- educational groups and workshops for clients with anxiety and depression.
Be committed to Continued Professional Development opportunities and participate in regular clinical supervision.
Work remotely at home with occasional in person (subject to criteria), with some travel for organisational meetings.

MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB
To provide a qualified specialist psychological therapy service located within SignHealth for anxiety and depression to clients from the NHS Talking Therapies service (Formerly known as IAPT). This involves providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy, within one or more psychological therapy models for a range of complex anxiety and depression-related problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective as specified by the NHS Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression Manual.
To provide advice and consultation on clients psychological care to colleagues and to other, non-professional carers. It will involve the supervision of other colleagues including trainee High Intensity Therapists and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, as well as trainees from other professional groups as appropriate.
The post holder will work with people with different diverse, cultural backgrounds and ages (adults) who are British Sign Language users.
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. CLINICAL
1.1. Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service and the Talking Therapies manual.
1.2. Assess clients for suitability for psychological interventions.
1.3. Contribute to the decision making on suitability of new referrals and referral allocation, adhering to the Service referral protocols and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary.
1.4. Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients.
1.5. Use highly developed communication skills in working with people to understand their personal and often very sensitive difficulties.
1.6. To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual
1.7. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of clients in line with the Service.
1.8. To Provide Specialist Psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
1.9. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT and other psychological formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.
1.10. Adhere to an agreed number of clinical contacts per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
1.11. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, and serious incident (SI) meetings where appropriate.
1.12. Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the
Service.
1.13. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols

Provide specialist advice and consultation to other professionals / individuals / groups / committees across Mental Health Trusts, Primary Care Trusts and other voluntary agencies regarding service matters related to the practice and delivery of specific agreed therapeutic modalities and service provision.
2. TRAINING AND SUPERVISION
2.1. Contribute to the teaching and training of mental health professionals and other staff working in the Service.
2.2. To receive regular CBT supervision from a senior psychologist/CBT therapist and, where appropriate, other senior professional colleagues.
2.3. To contribute to the pre- and post-qualification teaching of CBT therapists, as appropriate.
2.4 To provide professional and clinical supervision to other members of the team, including Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and Assistant Psychologists. Where appropriate, to provide this to trainee NHS Talking Therapies workers and other clinical staff.
3. PROFESSIONAL
3 Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times. To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care. To assess and deliver highly complex, sensitive and/or contentious information in possible hostile, antagonistic and emotional settings, e.g. deciding whether clients are suitable or unsuitable for particular services, having to break confidentiality at times e.g. referring clients to Social Services regarding safeguarding issues.
3.1. To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with professional codes of practice of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists and SignHealth policies and procedures
