At SWFT Clinical Services, we always
keep patients at the heart of what we do from our specially trained Pharmacists
providing information and support on dispensing medication. We are a wholly owned
subsidiary ofSouth Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust.The Trust became one of the
first in the country to set up a limited company as a business subsidiary.
Since then, many other Foundation Trusts have gone on to set up similar
businesses, utilising a model that is now well established.
We are delighted to offer an exciting Superintendent Pharmacy Manager position
within our Company that provides Outpatient Pharmacy Services at three NHS
hospital sites (Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon and George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton).
Leading a team of over 20 staff, we are looking for an ambitious, innovative,
and dynamic candidate to join our team. As the expert in your field, you will
be able to use your skills, experience, and a commercial mindset to develop and
grow our services for our customers and patients. Managing staff, training, professional
development, governance and other aspects of the pharmacy business will be your
priority.
Main duties of the job
This is a unique opportunity and is ideal for an
independently minded, financially and clinically focused Pharmacist who wants
to develop their career by taking on a Superintendent role or an experienced Pharmacy
leader who would like to work in an NHS subsidiary company. With room for
expansion, the service
is looking to combine purpose-built facilities with the latest dispensing
technologies and automation, to provide high-quality, patient-centred service
to patients across the hospitals and community setting.
Our pharmacy teams are supported by
trained multi-skilled colleagues from across the Pharmacy division in our
parent organisation, South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust.

The pharmacies are busy and operate Monday to Friday. The teams work well under pressure and liaise with hospital pharmacists, consultants and clinical staff to ensure safe and accurate dispensing.
Our staff always receive uninterrupted breaks away from the
pharmacy, to help them relax, refuel, and recharge on or off-site. Our pharmacy
teams are supported by trained multi-skilled colleagues from across the
Pharmacy division in our parent organisation, South Warwickshire University NHS
Foundation Trust, who are available to support when required to maintain safe
staffing and flexibility.

Fulfils the professional duties of a
registered Pharmacist to statutory standards and codes of practice, in
accordance with best practice, and as a senior manager acts effectively and
ethically to meet needs
Manages and contributes to the day to
day operations of the outpatient pharmacies, which will include effective use
of resources; value for money procurement of medicines (facilitated by the
Trust); dispensing of hospital and private prescriptions; over the counter
medicines; relevant retail sales, and training delivery in a healthcare
environment
Share in developing the business plan,
drive performance against it and manage delivery of the business plan
objectives (professional best practice, sales and profitability) on time and in
full
Assist in the recruitment of
staff. Train, accredit and develop staff
to meet business and professional needs; build team spirit and motivation; lead
by example; monitor and manage performance.
May be required to negotiate and implement changes in working patterns
to extend or change service hours to meet needs
Assure service quality and patient
safety through policies and procedures, systems and personnel. Respond promptly to new guidelines or
professional standards and guide the pharmacies through periodic inspection in the
statutory role of Superintendent Pharmacy Manager
Maintain a professional and clinical
network for the sharing of ideas, advice, information and peer support
Develop a range of KPIs, including
customer satisfaction (and the prompt and effective response to complaints);
value for money; formulary compliance; response to incidents, errors and product
alerts. Monitors and reports against
these and provides management information for periodic reviews with the Trusts
(SWFT & GEH) Head of Pharmacy and with the Managing Director
Provide the oral chemotherapy
dispensing service and also assist in the training of Pharmacists to screen
these oral SACT (systemic anti-cancer treatment) prescriptions
Maintains excellent working
relationships and good communications with commissioners and patients
Ensures confidentiality of commercial
and clinical information, which may related to patients; staff; Company
policies; prices; business information, and takes account of requirements of
the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 and Freedom of Information
legislation
Completes and maintains Standard
Operating Procedures
Any
other relevant duties at the request of the Managing Director.
