Job summary

This role provides the opportunity to deliver occupational therapy in its truest form utilising unique occupational therapy interventions focused on rebuilding veterans' lives.

Main duties of the job

The senior occupational therapist will be responsible for empowering veterans within the service to engage fully in meaningful occupations that matter most to them and support their participation in life roles. Interventions will be based on enabling them to make choices, building resilience and the use of coping strategies based on sensory interventions. This will be executed through assessment and creation of occupational case formulation to guide treatment which is delivered through individual and groupwork interventions.

  • Be part of a unique and cutting-edge service that is truly interdisciplinary and influence occupational therapy input with this unique client group.
  • Add to the research and evidence-base of occupational therapy with veterans to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of occupational therapy with veterans.
  • Receive training in occupational case formulation.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • * BSc (hons) or equivalent occupational therapy qualification
    • * Current HCPC registration
    • * Evidence of personal and professional development since registration
    • * Evidence of participation in clinical governance

    Desirable

    • * Post-registration qualification appropriate to speciality
    • * Experience in treatment of veterans' mental health
    • * Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists

    Experience

    Essential

    • * Minimum of 2 years post registration experience as an occupational therapist including a minimum of 12 months in mental health
    • * Application of standardised assessments and outcome measures
    • * Working in a recovery focused environment
    • * Risk assessment and management
    • * Planning, implementing and evaluating occupational therapy interventions
    • * Proven experience of providing high quality care and exceeding expectations.
