Job summary

We are investing significantly in our digital service delivery, with the aspiration of offering equivalent treatments online to those we deliver in-person, both individual and group interventions. These will continue to be a core part of our services going forward to maintain and increase accessibility to treatment. There is flexibility with this role to negotiate an element of remote working in line with service needs.

Main duties of the job

* To work as a member of an inter-disciplinary team (IDT) delivering services for Veterans with PTSD and other trauma-related mental health difficulties, and alcohol/substance misuse problems * To provide specialist psychological assessment, collaborative formulation and treatment using evidence-based trauma-focused psychological models and interventions for Veterans with PTSD, Complex-PTSD, depression, emotional dysregulation, inter and intrapersonal problems and other complex trauma-related mental health problems. * To offer psychological consultation for the IDT and contribute to psychologically-informed treatment planning, development of a reflective team approach and trauma-informed services. * To promote the work of Combat Stress amongst other professionals by offering training and advice both internally and externally. * To provide clincial supervision of assistant psychologists, trainee psychologists/CBT therapists and other staff as required * To contribute to service development and audit and training and research initiatives as appropriate. * To work closely with the Senior Psychologists/Senior CBT therapists and Heads of Psychological Therapies to contribute to the development and enhancement of treatment programmes, other relevant service development and clinical governance.

Based at our treatment center in Leatherhead, KT22 0BX Status: Permanent Salary: Band 7, £44,604 - £51,042, per annum, dependent on experience, plus 5% Outer London Fringe Allowance Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week ________________________________________________________________________________ About Us: Combat Stress is the UK's leading mental health charity for veterans. For over a century we've been helping former servicemen and women deal with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. Today we provide specialist treatment and support for veterans from every service and conflict, focusing on those with complex mental health issues related to their military service. We provide a range of community, outpatient and residential mental health services to veterans with complex mental health problems. We provide services in-person, and via phone and online. We offer psychological interventions following multiple military traumas (primarily for Complex-PTSD, but not exclusively) after a single holistic assessment and formulation of needs within an integrated interdisciplinary care pathway. Stabilisation and reintegration phases include access to art therapy, occupational therapy, psychiatric treatment, substance misuse interventions and programmes of support for Veterans' partners, their families and organisations that work alongside them, such as employers. We also have a highly regarded peer support service, run by Veterans for Veterans that benefits from excellent clinical governance and which supports all stages of their recovery. Psychological interventions span the range of evidenced-based therapies for PTSD and C-PTSD, including TF-CBT, NET, CPT, CFT for trauma and PE. We benefit from innovative clinical and research collaborations with international experts in the field to trial and deliver effective interventions for Complex-PTSD.   • To work as an integral part of a highly specialist interdisciplinary team working with Veterans living in the England South region.
  • Contribute to the development of interdisciplinary team working to meet the clinical needs of the Veterans referred.
  • To provide trauma informed psychological therapies to Veterans accessing Combat Stress.
  • To ensure that clinical services are delivered consistently with a high level of competency and expertise.
  • To support and advise colleagues on all issues relating to psychological therapies, psychologically informed service provision and trauma-informed care.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of external relationships in the England South region, improve cross-service collaborative working relationships and increase awareness of Combat Stress.

    • EITHER 1) HCPC registered psychologist who has completed Post Graduate doctoral level training in counselling or clinical psychology, including specifically models of two or more distinct psychological therapies to include CBT
    • AND/OR 2) BABCP accredited CBT Therapist

    Desirable

    • Completion of further post-qualification CPD/training in areas of practice relevant to the post, ideally including working with PTSD/trauma-related psychological difficulties
    • Experience of delivering CBT supervision

    Experience

    Essential

    • Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a range of care settings.
    • Experience of working with a wide variety of adult client groups presenting with problems that reflect the full range of mental health disorders experienced by veterans (e.g., trauma, anxiety disorders, depression, substance misuse) of varying clinical severity and complexity.
