Job summary

Are you an experienced Practice Manager seeking a new opportunity in Sefton, Merseyside? The successful Practice Manger will join on an initial contract until October 2023 but with possibilities of a permanent position at the end of the contract. The Practice Manager will manage the operational function of the Practice and delivery of objectives to support safe, caring and effective services, manage service delivery and patient care across the Practice in line with local and national guidelines, ensure the Practice complies with NHS contractual obligations in relation to patient care and monitor and oversee registration policies, patient turnover and electronic and repeat prescribing across the Practice. The Practice Manager is responsible for the appropriate management of services within the GP Practice and will ensure that the policies and procedures which support the design and delivery of the services are implemented by all personnel within the Practice.

Main duties of the job

To deliver high quality and cost effective services across the Practice

To manage the operational function of the Practice and delivery of objectives to support safe, caring and effective services

To manage service delivery and patient care across the Practice in line with local and national guidelines

To ensure the Practice complies with NHS contractual obligations in relation to patient care

To oversee operational rota management

To monitor and oversee registration policies, patient turnover and electronic and repeat prescribing across the Practice

Job responsibilities

Performance

To manage all relevant practices and procedures to maximise income across the Practice

To manage all financial drivers of the Practice including Quality Outcomes Framework (QOF), recall systems, Practice accounts and daily cash-flow

To establish and monitor systems for handling and recording of cheques and petty cash

To manage Practice KPIs and to implement agreed corrective measures

To manage performance targets and KPIs and ensure these are understood by all staff within the Practice

To review Practice performance against financial objectives and ensure areas of under-performance are managed

To ensure all key operating protocols and procedures are available and routinely followed by all personnel and to identify the need for new or updated protocols and procedures where required

To report internally regarding Practice performance through relevant manager meetings

Workforce management & development

To provide clear direction and management of staff issues and day to day HR matters

To ensure all key employment policies are implemented within the Practice

To ensure key workforce data is routinely collected, reviewed and managed for the Practice

To manage staff resources and daily work allocation

To manage the recruitment and retention of staff to deliver safe and effective services across the Practice

To carry out all staff appraisals and implement personal development plans to ensure that training and development opportunities are made available

To manage, review and report on absence issues and deal with investigations/first stage disciplinary matters

To develop, support and provide guidance to all staff within the Practice
