We have are warding opportunity for Registered Nurses to join our team of Bank staff on our warm, expert, Inpatient Unit, providing excellent care to patients.

Main duties of the job

What You Will Do:

Working alongside and in support of the multi-disciplinary team, responsibilities will include; assessment,implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.You will also provide support to the Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistants and IPU Lead Nurses.

In addition, you will support and guide families through open, sensitive communication putting patients wishes at the heart of their care.

What You Will Need:

  • Be a Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration, preferably with6 months post-qualification experience.

  • Experience in palliative care or oncology would be advantageous.

  • Ability to work well within a team,and without supervision.

  • To use initiative and have excellent communication skills.

  • Have flexibility to work across days,nights and weekend shifts sometimes at short notice.

Job responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

1. To provide high quality, effective, individualised care to all patients, withoutsupervision, and assist in monitoring standards.

2. To provide continual assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation ofevidence based, individualised patient care.

3. To assist and advise staff (both registered and unregistered) and volunteers inthe delivery of patient care. Maintaining accurate clinical observations of thepatient and acting accordingly, giving clear feedback to maintain and improveperformance of colleagues and referring all concerns to senior colleagues.

4. To expand nursing practice within the guidelines of the NMC Scope of ProfessionalPractice, including venepuncture, cannulation and male catheterisation, administration of intravenous medications, and to be trained and assessed ascompetent in the use of medical equipment specific to hospice care includingfeeding and infusion pumps.

5. To provide support to patients in emotional distress, and their grieving familiesand provide a high standard of evidence-based information for them.

6. To ensure your statutory training is regularly updated in line with NMC guidelines,and to work on your personal development plan, keeping up-to-date with currentdevelopments in nursing.

7. To undertake responsibility for extra tasks delegated by the Lead Nurses orMatron, and participate in appropriate training, teaching, and cascade ofinformation.
