Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities: Creating and implementing strategies to increase legacy giving and gifts in wills Engaging with potential donors and developing strong relationships with individual supporters Embedding a clear understanding of legacy fundraising through collaborative working Leading multiple projects ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategy Analyse fundraising data to inform decision-making

One direct report In Memory & Gifts in Wills Fundraiser Responsible for team target Accountable for budget of £1.M plus (gross) Key Stakeholders:Executive Director Innovation, Digital and Engagement Senior Leadership Team Fundraising Team Marketing & Communications Team Quality, Governance & Data Team Job Purpose: Responsible for creating, developing and implementing strategies to increase legacy giving and gifts in wills. Also for strategies to acquire, retain, and engage individuals, teams and groups giving in memory. With a strong focus on marketing, awareness and acquisition through various activities and a variety of channels, strongly utilising digital pathways and automation. Drive the number and size of pledges made to the hospice, stewarding supporters to ensure realisation of these gifts to meet ambitious targets Engage with potential donors, building, cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with individual supporters, ensuring excellent stewardship and donor care, work closely and collaboratively with the Marketing & Comms Team, to create compelling communication strategies to encourage legacy pledges. Responsible for delivering income growth. Embed a clear understanding of legacy fundraising through collaborative working across the hospice, using a test and learn approach, ensuring our supporter data is optimised and all systems are capitalised to meet the charitys needs. Lead multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of an agreed portfolio of activity and its alignment with strategic goals: planning, executing, and analysing these activities to ensure compliance and maximising ambitious growth. Specific Duties: Leadership, Strategy Development and Implementation: To support and report upon the fundraising strategic plan and operational plans for the personal giving team, achieving agreed budgets. To provide strong leadership, direction and performance management within the legacy and in memory team, building a values-led environment. Creating clear objectives, KPIs and personal development plans. Develop and execute comprehensive legacy and giving in memory strategies, with a focus on retention and income growth through, tested supporter journeys, digital channels and automation. Planning for journeys to end with a gift in a will. Regularly research opportunities to achieve metrics and improve long-term ROI in individual giving. Support and implement online and offline campaigns, using multiple channels including email marketing, social media, and website optimisation. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyse fundraising data to track performance, identify trends, and inform decision-making. Prepare regular reports on campaign performance, donor metrics, and financial outcomes. Prepare detailed financial revenue analysis and progress reports for analysis, management, key stakeholders and other fundraising teams. To lead on and champion in memory and legacy giving across the hospice to upon the fundraising strategic plan. Donor Acquisition and Retention: Develop and implement strategies to acquire new donors and legacy pledgers Lead on the development and delivery of in memory and legacy giving campaigns. Work with the public fundraising team to create personalised supporter journeys and segmentation strategies to enhance donor experience. Collaboration and coordination: Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure cohesive implementation of the annual giving plan from research to evaluation. Coordinate with other departments to align fundraising efforts with organisational goals. Collaborate with all Managers across the fundraising team to integrate in memory and legacy giving in all fundraising efforts. Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in legacy and in memory giving. Test and implement new fundraising channels and methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Work with the fundraising team, to develop new ideas and best practices to improve the number of legacy pledges and the income from in memory fundraising to increase annual gift amounts. Compliance, Administrative and Project Management: Ensure all legacy fundraising activities comply with UK fundraising regulations and best practices. Build, monitor and control the growth of multi-million pound budget plans, reforecasting when necessary, ensuring all resources are used effectively. Manage operations of the In Memory and Legacy Giving programmes, ensuring all activities are completed accurately, on time and within budget. Maintain accurate records of donor communications and support with improvement and updating of donor management systems regularly. Essential

  • Qualifications in English and Maths at Grade 5 or above (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Professional certification in fundraising, such as the Certificate in Fundraising from the Chartered Institute of Fundraising (CIOF)
  • Additional certifications in legacy management.

Experience

  • Substantial time in a similar role within the charity sector, with a clear focus on gifts in wills and fundraising in memory.
