Main duties of the job
What you will do
Advise, support, and involve families and carers in simple therapy techniques.
Provide hands-on complementary therapies to patients.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
Collaborate with the Complementary Therapy team to enhance service offerings.
Attend briefings to ensure continuity of care and educate health care colleagues.
Contribute to the training of complementary therapy volunteers.
Maintain a safe working environment at all times.

Responsible to:Complementary Therapy Coordinator
Job Purpose:
To provide complementary therapies to palliative adults in the community (Luton and South Beds)
Specific Duties:Ensure comprehensive, holistic assessment of patients for complementary therapy treatment and evaluations of interventions.
Provide hands-on complementary therapies.
Contribute to the development and implementation for communicating information concerning patient care including the completion of accurate and comprehensive records.
Access and accurately maintain patient records
Prioritise and manage personal workload.
Advise, support and involve family and carers in providing simple therapy techniques following assessment of need.
Ensure efficient use of complementary therapy resources eg oils, equipment etc.
Ensure efficient use of Hospice vehicles if used.
Ensure infection control and clean laundry practices are followed.
Comply with the requirements of Professional Code of Conduct and Practice.
Work with Complementary Therapy Coordinator in identifying opportunities to develop and enhance current service.
Attend relevant briefings to ensure continuity of care and to educate and advise health care colleagues.
Contribute to the training of complementary therapy volunteers.
Be aware of current developments in palliative care and the implications of clinical practice.
Assist Complementary Therapy Coordinator with ensuring adherence of service to required quality standards.
Duties in common with other members of staff:To report accidents recording the incident in the relevant book
To be an ambassador for the charity
To maintain the best appearance of your immediate working area
To demonstrate a positive and supportive attitude to staff and volunteers
Respect confidentiality applying to all Hospice areas
Abide by your Professional Code of Conduct
Training and EducationTo be responsible for liaison with your line manager regarding your own development needs
Health and SafetyTo adhere to Fire and Health and Safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment at all times
Policies and ProceduresTo take responsibility for being up to date with current policies and procedures and to adhere to these

- Nationally recognised qualification in massage
Desirable
- Nationally recognised qualification in more than one therapy to include massage

- Current driving licence
