Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 equivalent dependingon experiencewithin
Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Academy, for a dynamic and
enthusiastic registered nurse to join our forward-thinking Workforce
Development Team as a HCA Clinical Skills & Learning Facilitator with the
aim to expand into nursing. The role supports and develops the nursing
workforce by providing in house training and work based clinical support to
ensure proficiency in practice.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate would have experience in practice development, be familiar with the requirements for HCAs and have a working knowledge of the care certificate. The candidate will need to demonstrate competence in their own clinical skills and have confidence to deliver training within a classroom/virtual environment.
About us
HMR
Primary Care Academy is provided by Rochdale Health Alliance and works in
collaboration with NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Clinical Commissioning
Group.
The Primary Care Academy was launched in
September 2018 to focus on training, education, workforce development and
research across the entire primary care workforce in HMR.
It aims to create and provide new
opportunities for people working in primary care and entering primary care, to
shape, inform and influence the career opportunities and environment they would
like to work in.
We collaborate with, NHS Heywood,
Middleton and Rochdale Clinical Commissioning Group, Higher Education
Institutes and other identified stakeholders in supporting service redesign,
education and training of the workforce across primary care.

Job responsibilities
The main
duties of this role include:
Work alongside students and
apprentices on shift, when necessary to contribute to the learning environment
Work in clinical practice to
support nurses and Health Care Support Workers to achieve competency in
clinical skills
Deliver education and training programmes
in clinical skills for apprentices, health care support workers and allied
health care professionals
Work clinically to maintain
competencies
Work
alongside the Primary Care Academy Manager, assisting Health Care Assistants in
the implementation, education, delivery and evaluation of clinical skills
Delivery
and organisation of the Care Certificate Training Programme (CCTP)
To
work with the Academys workforce development coordinator to support HCAs with
functional skills
The
post holder will develop and extend the GM Health Care Support Worker Primary
Care Career Pathway
Work
with the Primary Care Academy Manager to develop and plan education programmes
for Health Care Assistants, supporting Practice Managers to ensure that their
Health Care Assistants are able to progress within the practice. The post
holder will be expected to provide constructive feedback on progress enabling
continual development
Produce
reports and statistics in relation to the GM
Health Care Support Worker Primary Care Career Pathway to support reporting of
programme metrics and/or HMR Academy and GM programme management
Assist
with the provision of mandatory training for staff undertaking the Care
Certificate Training Program including Resuscitation Training and Manual
Handling
Provide
significant support to the delivery of the Academys Health Care Assistant development
program/supporting the nursing pathway
This
role will continue to develop through the acquisition of further skills,
knowledge and competencies to be determined by the Academy
The
post holder will contribute towards the ongoing quality of service and care and
identify any risk issues in relation to patients
To
maintain accurate, clear, concise and contemporaneous records as per academy
policies and communicate information to members of the team as necessary
Prepare
new and existing Health Care Support Workers to complete the Care Certificate
Programme
Follow
up and work with learners in clinical practice by providing direct support to
ensure safe development of practice
Assisting
HCAs as required, identifying the needs of patients to aid safe and effective
care
Maintain
and observe at all times confidentiality of information concerning the
programme, the learners, patients, their relatives and their carers
Maintain
excellent and appropriate communication with all
Act
as a role model for all clinical staff
