new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our
Award Winning Team here at Garden House Hospice Care!
Who are we
Garden House Hospice Care is a
multi-award-winning organisation that provides care for the people of North
Herts and Stevenage. We care for those
with any life limiting illness, with the goal of actively enhancing their
quality of life and supporting our patients and their families.
Since January 2024, as an
extension of our outstanding care for all patients with life limiting
conditions, GHHC started an innovative service to support patients with
moderate to severe frailty and two or more long term conditions. This service
has been featured repeatedly on the BBC news and radio and has been awarded
three awards, including the Palliative Care Service of the Year Award at the
Palliative and End of Life Care Awards.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join an exciting organisation and a team passionate to help as many people as possible by working innovatively to constantly improve our services. You will work with the Pharmacist Advance on our 12 bedded In Patient Unit in Letchworth. On a day to day basis the Pharmacy Technician duties will include:
Medicines reconciliation
- Stock management (including ordering, expiry checks and destruction)
- Support with discharge medication
- Liaising with nursing/ward staff to support accurate administration of medication
- Completion of medication audits
- Working with pharmacy team to ensure accurate supply of medication
What skills do I need?
- Must be a qualified Pharmacy Technician
- Registered with GPhC
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling medications
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals effectively
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues for optimal patient care
Evidence of maintenance of up-to-date CPD
