Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Governance Manager to join the team at Garden House Hospice.

Reporting to the Director of Patient Services, you will be instrumental in driving service quality and safety, in both Clinical and Non Clinical services ensuring they are underpinned by a robust quality governance and safety framework. Youll also be responsible for driving a culture of continuous quality improvement across the Hospice teams and an active member of the Hospice Management Board.

Main duties of the job

Ideally, you will have:

Experience of successful quality governance monitoring & improvement

Current clinical professional registration

The ability to handle detail within plans and make informed decisions and judgements

The ability to make sense of conflicting priorities and reach effective solutions in a timely manner

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. The Manager has responsibility for the delivery and sustainability of effective systems of governance both patient facing and non-patient facing and sustaining good quality patient care.

2. The manager will be responsible for design, maintenance and implementation of systems to investigate ,manage and resolve incidents, risks and complaints.

3. The manager will be responsible for coordinating and delivering training to staff especially around new learning from incidents.

4. The manager will ensure that there are systems maintained to monitor, measure and evaluate levels of:

Infection prevention and control outbreaks

Safeguarding applications

Professional revalidation of Nursing staff

Risk management

Health and safety incidents investigation and management

Level of Quality and compliance with regulatory bodies

Patient experience.

Complaints investigation

Other investigations utilizing PSIRF methodology

5. This is a broad portfolio and therefore the post holder will often be required to work within a broad multi-disciplinary team

6. The manager has a significant leadership and communication role in relation to raising patient safety, quality and governance standards throughout the organisation, ensuring that such standards meet the registration requirements of the Care Quality Commission and other regulators whilst creating an environment which promotes and supports high standards of practice, resulting in high quality patient care. The post holder will lead the development of strategies and delivery plans to enable high quality safe service provision.

  • Educated to Bachelors level or equivalent
  • Evidence of recent ongoing personal development action and achievement
  • Current clinical professional registration

Desirable

  • Willing to complete additional training required for role as identified/required

  • Sound understanding of the PSIRF Agenda
