Associate Trainer, We Can Talk

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

We are looking for associate trainers to help us improve the confidence and skills of staff who support young people who attend hospital in a mental health crisis.

If you have extensive experience of supporting children and young people in mental health crisis and currently work in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) OR an emergency department or other acute setting AND are looking to help make everyones experience better this is the job for you! Were looking for both experienced CAMHS clinicians and equally experienced acute colleagues (with an interest in mental health, rather than any specialist qualifications) to help us change the future for every child and young person who attends hospital due to their mental health.

We would encourage applications from those looking for freelance work with a day rate of £150 to £250 dependant on experience.

Main duties of the job

In the last 3 years We Can Talk has trained over 2000 members of hospital staff and we are now entering an exciting phase of growth, supporting up to an additional 50 hospitals in the next year. We are therefore looking to expand our pool of associate trainers to collaborate equally with our Young Advisors and form teams of trainers linked to a specific geographical area (these can be found in the supporting documents and preference must be identified within your supporting statement).

About us

We Can Talk is a project run by Healthy Teen Minds that uses engagement and education to increase the skills and confidence of acute hospital staff to understand and support children and young peoples mental health. We currently support more than 50 hospital sites to deliver face-to-face training equipping hospital staff with the skills, knowledge and confidence to provide high quality care to children and young people presenting to hospital in a mental health crisis. We have also recently launched an online module that is available for free to all hospital workers in the UK.

Healthy Teen Minds is a small organisation with big ambitions to change the future for children and young people. We believe the role young people can play in transforming the mental health system is significantly undervalued and so we are working to challenge the status quo and enable young people-powered change.
