Job summary
We are looking for
exceptional and committed Band 5 Nurses who will provide outstanding care to
our patients to join our friendly Inpatient Unit team providing
specialist palliative care to patients in our 18-bedded unit.
We have full-time/part-time permanent and bank opportunities available.
Main duties of the job
We
are looking for nurses with some experience of palliative care, who are team
players, keen to learn and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You must
have good communication skills and able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate
nursing care for a group of patients.

The
IPU Registered Nurse will be a member of the Inpatient Unit palliative care
team providing holistic, skilled, patient-centered, palliative care to all
inpatients. This includes the assessment, planning, implementation and
evaluation of care; supporting patients families and friends, and working
collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. They will assist the Unit
manager/s in supervision and training of junior staff and in service
development issues. They will act as shift coordinator as required and ensure
good communication from shift to shift.
Whilst the position is site-specific, there may
be occasions when the nurse is required to provide cross-site/service cover.

Essential
- First-level Registration or Diploma level
- Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Able to demonstrate an interest in specialist palliative care
- Evidence of relevant experience gained through training
- Experience of working with patients with life limiting illness
- Involves shift work including weekends, Bank Holidays and night duty
- May be required to work at all sites within the organisation

- Working toward degree/diploma
- Evidence of further accredited learning relevant to the field of palliative care
- Mentorship qualification
- Demonstrate experience of taking charge of team of staff in absence of a more senior colleague
- Able to demonstrate evidence of involvement in specific project or development work

- Evidence of communication skills training
