Job summary

North London Hospice is a registered charity which has been providing high-quality individualised care for patients and their families since 1984. We help those with a potentially life-limiting illness who have specialist needs.

This role forms part of the learning and development team at North London Hospice.

The post holder will facilitate a partnership approach to multi-professional palliative/end-of-life care education and practice development both internally within the Hospice and externally across local health and social care organisations.

They will support the development of education initiatives that are designed to reduce the gap between practice and theory, to ensure the delivery of high-quality palliative and end-of-life care.

The post holders will remain clinically competent by working clinically within the Hospice or the community teams.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a motivated and experienced nurse or allied health professional to join our pro-active Learning and Development team. Candidates will be passionate about providing quality palliative and end of life care and the importance of education and training in achieving this. Working in partnership, you will plan, deliver and evaluate training programmes both internally within the Hospice and externally across local health and social care organisations, care homes and community teams. With enthusiasm for and experience of teaching and learning in healthcare, you will have effective IT and presentation skills.

Based at our Finchley site, but working across our geographical area of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey and occasionally beyond. Car driver and owner essential; as is flexibility with regards to working hours as some education sessions may be in the evening.

  • RGN/RN
  • Relevant professional degree / or evidence of level 3 study
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to undertake a recognised teaching qualification

Desirable

  • Study at Masters / degree level
  • PGCE/ City and Guilds

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years RGN / 2 years at a senior level.
  • Oncology / Palliative Care Post Registration
  • Teaching and learning in healthcare
