Job summary

Purpose of Role:

The General Manager reports to the Service Director and will be responsible for the overall management and oversight of wards across the division.

The Division is led by a Triumvirates leadership team of the Clinical Director, Service Director and Associate Director of Nursing. Working closely with colleagues, the General Manager will ensure continuous service improvement in workforce, performance, operational and financial outcomes.

In order to provide greater management support to our wards out of hours, all our General Managers will rotate with our Quality Matrons to provide full out of hours cover across seven days also providing Operational/Bronze Command cover for Critical and Major Incidents response.

Main duties of the job

The role

In this exciting new high profile role reporting to the Service Director, you will be responsible for the overall management and oversight of a group of Low Secure and Specialist Rehabilitatian wards across the division. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with colleagues to ensure continuous service improvement in workforce, performance, operational and financial outcomes
  • Recruiting, motivating, training, developing, appraising and retaining staff ensuring they have the skills, expertise and discretion to work effectively in their roles
  • Leading the development of a culture that promotes leadership through a coaching style for improvement
  • Representing your division at internal and external forums
  • Using and providing highly complex information and data from a range of sources as required for the quality measure and the use of dash boards to improve the quality of care delivery
  • Taking accountability to deliver high quality clinical services, including patient safety, patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes and compliance with the clinical pathways and protocols
  • Managing financial delivery through the effective and efficient provision of service within the resources available while maintaining the quality of service provision
  • Acting as a change agent in driving continuous quality improvement

About you

Youll be an experienced, inspiring and compassionate operational leader with significant experience of delivering high performance and results through your people and teams. You will be an excellent communicator with strong influencing and negotiation skills. You will be skilled at presenting and interpreting complex data and be comfortable in decision making and problem solving.

With high levels of personal integrity you will be well experienced in winning hearts and minds through periods of complex change. You will also be highly adept at managing effective relationships to a senior level and a strong track record of meeting business targets.

You will have both the breadth and depth of skills to fulfil the role described above and high levels of resilience to lead and embed significant change.
