Our innovative team created the first validated nutritional screening tool (St Andrews Nutritional Screening Instrument – SANSI) which improves nutritional screening of a variety of specific dietary issues, identifying not only weight loss but also weight gain.
The Charity
St Andrew’s Healthcare is a charity providing specialist mental healthcare services. We work in partnership with a number of NHS, voluntary, educational and research organisations to deliver a range of specialist inpatient and community mental healthcare services, education and research that helps to improve the lives of people with complex mental health needs.

Support will be available from your line manager and colleagues in the dietetic team. Main duties of the job
This post will be on our Birmingham site, which provides care to men and women within medium and low secure divisions and would be ideally suited to an experienced band 5 dietitian wishing to take the next step in their career progression and expand their skills or a current band 6 dietitian seeking a new challenge. There will be lots of support to help this role develop further. This role will build on your existing dietetic skills - clinical knowledge, communication skills, motivational interviewing, caseload management and collaborative working.
St Andrews has a strong ethos of multidisciplinary working and has close links with Speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and the ward teams. The dietetics team also works closely with the on-site catering team who provide a fresh cook catering service, which is tailored to patients’ needs.

About us

The successful applicant will join our friendly and supportive dietetic team at our Northampton site. The team consists of 1 x Assistant Practitioner, 3 x dietitians, 1 x Specialist Dietitian and a further 7 x highly Specialist dietitians. Monthly supervision with an experienced clinician will be available to access to help support professional practice as well as intra-professional per support with other specialist professionals from Speech and Language and Physiotherapy departments. The post will cover a wide range of clinical conditions including management of nutrition support, Diabetes (type 1 and type 2), weight management, dysphagia, food allergies and intolerance, Gastrointestinal and eating disorders / disordered eating. Previous experience of working with a variety of nutritional needs and an interest in mental health would be desirable for this post.
