Job summary

We are currently looking to appoint a qualified or newly qualified Psychologist who has experience or an interest of working with complex and challenging patient groups, and will be eligible for, or hold HCPC registration.

Psychology is highly valued within the service and embedded within a multi-disciplinary approach. The post holder will be fully involved in the development, delivery and evaluation of a range of assessments and formulation-led interventions. You will be joining a motivated and supportive team with a variety of therapeutic knowledge, using approaches including LMV, EMDR, DBT and trauma focused care in both 1:1 and group formats.There will be the opportunity to work with a variety of client groups, including the opportunity to work with older adults and adults of working age. The team seek to hold a wide variety of specialisms between them and welcome interests in other areas.

There will be opportunities for joint professional work and involvement in clinical supervision, support and training and we actively support innovation and research.You can expect to receive good support, reflective practice and supervision and will play a vital part in the promotion of this service. Participation in continued professional development is encouraged, and divisional and charity wide CPD events are held weekly.Staff wellbeing is taken seriously recognising the importance for practitioners to care for themselves when caring for others.

Main duties of the job

At our Birmingham site we provide medium and low secure services for men and women with mental disorders alongside our Reach Out network colleagues. Our teams are multi-disciplinary with extensive knowledge, skills and experience of working with individuals within secure care. Our aim is to provide high-quality assessment, care and treatment, helping patients to progress to the least restrictive setting by equipping them with the skills required to live as independently as possible, closer to communities of their choosing. We include patients in planning their care, valuing and embracing each and every individuals unique qualities. We benefit from positive working relationships with practitioners across the West Midlands including the Clinical and Forensic courses at the University of Birmingham, as well as Aston University for undergraduate and Masters Level.
