Job summary

Our Neuropsychiatry Division offers specialist services for patients with Dementia, Acquired Brain Injury and Huntingtons Diesease . The care and rehabilitation offered is recognised for being at the forefront of innovative service developments and for its excellence in service delivery.

Main duties of the job

You will join a medically led organisation which has 8 Psychiatry Directors as part of our Executive Leadership team. This along with 30 other Consultant Psychiatrists based in Northampton will give you the support you need to succeed and enjoy your role whilst also having the opportunities to progress for the future too.

You will lead a multi-disciplinary team and oversee the management of patients with often complex needs. You will be able to promote innovation and improvement of services, with scope to develop your specialist interests and grow your remit and responsibilities. You will have an office and the support of an associate specialist as ward doctor and a full MDT including Clinical Administrators and Personal Assistants dedicated to your wards and service.

About us

Our Northampton site also has other services such as Low Secure, PICU, Learning Disability, Autism, Neuropsychiatry, Forensics, and CAMHS as well as our academic and research centre. It also has facilities such as a café, garden centre, charity shop, woodwork & ceramics workshop all staffed by patients and service users along with other facilities such as gyms and swimming pools for patients and staff to use and all based in over 150 acres of beautiful woodland grounds (please see link below for more details).

Northamptonshire is also a great place to live due to having great schools, very reasonable house prices and a good mix of facilities within the town as well as really nice villages and countryside. Based in the midlands you have great access to the M1 and M6 and will be based under an hours drive / train from London and Birmingham.

The Neuropsychiatryservice in Northampton have an opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to develop and strengthen their experience whilst having the chance to develop research and clinical ideas. Thisservice is forward-thinking, open to new ideas and a holistic approach is taken to patient care and treatment.

We currently have two vacancies:

Vacancy 1 - working in Acquired Brain Injury, we have a Consultant Psychiatrist vacancy in our admissions ward. You will be responsible for the care of patients with complex mental health and neuro-rehabilitation needs. There is a full multidisciplinary team, including a consultant clinical neuropsychologist and specialist occupational therapist.

Vacancy 2 - working in our Lowther Dementia Village, our Consultant Psychiatrist will work alongside a dedicated and specialist team caring for patients with advanced dementia and functional illnesses. Lowther Dementia Village has a full care pathway for men, including an admission ward, a complex care ward, and a ward for patients with increased personal care or physical healthcare needs.
