Job summary

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our new Neurodiversity Support Team, which will run until the end of March 2026.

Due to the growing waiting lists for access into ADHD services, the aim of the Neurodiversity Support Team is to provide support, guidance and signposting to people awaiting a formal ADHD assessment. The team will also provide information about alternative assessment providers and facilitate with onward referrals to these organizations when appropriate.

The Neurodiversity Pathway Navigator will work under the direction of the Neurodiversity Pathway Coordinator and will have the exciting opportunity to help shape this new service as it evolves over the coming months

Main duties of the job

The Neurodiversity Pathway Navigator will:

  • Complete comprehensive and holistic assessments of need for patients with suspected ADHD who fit the criteria for the service within agreed timeframes.
  • Identify clinical risks and escalate when necessary to the Neurodiversity Pathway Coordinator.
  • Work from the agreed work premises and contribute to the overall smooth running of the service.
  • Develop collaborative Wellbeing support plans with individuals with ADHD symptoms which promote choice and complement any medical treatment or advice.
  • Discuss alternative providers of ADHD assessments enabling clinically appropriate and informed patient-choice as part of a joint management plan. In cases where it is decided to refer, all necessary clinical admin will be completed as per agreed protocols.
  • Identify any barriers to people accessing support for their ADHD symptoms and work with individuals to overcome these.

Use a range of techniques and interventions to support people with ADHD symptoms, to better understand themselves from a strengths and challenges perspective, to encourage a more positive mindset and ability for self-advocacy.

Monitor and record outcomes within SystmOne or EMISweb using agreed templates and assessment tools and outcome measures.

Together with the Neurodiversity Pathway Coordinator, build networks with local community resources such as activities and services that may have an impact on the health and wellbeing of people living with ADHD symptoms and support individuals to access these.

Together with the Neurodiversity Pathway Coordinator, identify gaps in provision for people with ADHD symptoms within the current Health and Care Partnership to inform future service design and business cases.

Develop multi-agency working across communities and voluntary and statutory organizations to improve health and address health inequality for people with ADHD symptoms.

Gather and collate statistical and other information and data as required, to report on activity and outcomes and ensure effective qualitative and quantitative monitoring and evaluation of the service.

Reflect on practice, and participate in team meetings, practice development forums and peer supervision within the service.

Ensure that client records and other information systems are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.

Ensure that support undertaken is meaningful and respectful, promoting self-understanding and self-compassion, and is in line with the individual support plan.

Adhere to organizational policies and procedures relating to risk and personal safety.

Any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post.

Work with team members and colleagues to continually improve the quality of services within the overall organisational governance frameworks and service objectives.

Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and adapt their approach for people with ADHD as required.

Have strong organizational abilities, capable of planning and prioritizing effectively.

Work well under pressure and execute tasks to a high standard whilst supporting peers.

Have good questioning skills to enable issues/problems to be identified and resolved.
