Job summary

Are you an experienced shop manager with a background in charity retail? Can you travel independently across the East Midlands without relying on public transport? If so, this could be the perfect role for you!

Main duties of the job

In order to continue this, we are currently seeking a Cover Store Manager on a 12 month fixed term contract to manage the day-to-day operations of a retail store in the absence or during the cover of the usual Shop Manager. This includes overseeing staff, ensuring high levels of customer service, managing stock levels, and maintaining store presentation and operational standards. The role also involves handling any challenges that arise, such as staff issues, customer queries, and maintaining sales performance. Hours: 37.5 hours on a rota basis 5 out of 7 per week with the need to work weekends. Locations of Stores you will be covering: Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, Lutterworth, Blaby, Wigston, Market Harborough, Beeston, Arnold, and Long Eaton.

Rainbows Hospice in Loughborough is the only childrens hospice in the East Midlands, providing specialist end-of-life, palliative, and respite care for babies, children, and young people whose lives may be shorter than most. Our retail shops are vital in raising funds to support the babies, children, young people, and their families that we support.

About the role Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to): Manage the day-to-day operations of a retail store in the absence or during the cover of the usual Shop Manager. Maintain the shops income and profit potential Achieve budgeted income and profit figures and proactively address any fall in income Work with the eBay manager to maximise the sale value of donated items including through the use of online resources such as Ebay and Depop Delegate appropriate tasks to volunteers and ensure they are fully trained and able to carry out the tasks required of them Further responsibilities in the role of a Cover Shop Manager (Multi-Location) at Rainbows, can be found by downloading the Job Description.   • Experience in a retail environment or customer service role
  • Excellent Management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to implement agreed standards of service in the store
  • The ability to recruit, train and motivate volunteers
  • Able to work towards financial targets and manage budgets.
  • Good administrative and organisational skills with the ability to monitor and analyse shop statistics.
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety and Fire Safety and ability to identify potential risks.
  • Effective communication skills verbal & written
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently but flexibly as part of a team
  • Sensitivity in handling people in difficult and distressing circumstances
  • Good problem solving & decision making skills
