Job summary

Rainbows are currently looking for qualified Nurses to join are dedicated and supportive care team here at the Hospice in Loughborough.

Our Nursing team provide a high standard of care for to babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. If you can demonstrate experience working with babies, children and young people with complex care needs and are passionate about providing a high standard of nursing care in a family led environment, we would like to hear from you.

Rainbows Hospice is available for families all year, 24 hours a day, we therefore operate on a shift basis to provide the best possible service. Our typical shift patterns include:

  • 12 hour day shift - 07:30 - 20:00
  • 12 hour night - 19:30 - 08:00
  • 7.5 hour early day shift - 07:30 - 15:00
  • 7.5 evening shift 14:00 - 21:30

Job responsibilities

As a Rainbows Band 5 nurse youll be responsible for supporting the Deputy Lead Nurse Shift Coordinator in planning and implementing care for children and young people, with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, within the hospice.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care of children and young people in partnership with them and their parents/guardians
  • Providing excellent short break, palliative, and end of life care at Rainbows in a family centred environment in conjunction with all members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Being part of a home sitting/outreach service in the community for children and young people requiring palliative and end of life care
  • Ensuring all procedures are carried out in accordance with local and national policies in force within the Hospice Ensuring accurate and contemporaneous record keeping and observe confidentiality of such records at all times
  • Taking personal and professional responsibility for administration, storage and return of all medications in accordance with Rainbows Policy and the NMC Code of Drug Administration

Essential

  • As a Band 5 Nurse at Rainbows, you'll need to be qualified RSCN/RN (Child Branch)/RNLD/RGN with post registration experience, relevant placement experience or pre-nurse training care experience. Experience with babies, children and/or young people (0-25 years) with complex needs is also required for the role.

Desirable

  • Palliative care experience is desirable, however specialist training and development opportunities will be provided. Excellent communication skills and the ability to demonstrate high standards of clinical care are essential. Further requirements can be found by downloading the Person Specification.
