Bank Nurse Respite Care (Complex Needs)
Location: Covering Carlisle, Eden, Allerdale localities, 1500 square miles, Bank Work.

About You:Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid NMC PIN.
Experience in complex care, respite, or palliative nursing is desirable.
Strong clinical skills combined with a compassionate and patient-centred approach.
Ability to adapt to different care settings and work flexibly on a bank basis.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver personalized nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions.
Administer medications and support clinical interventions in line with care plans.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care.
Provide emotional and practical support to patients and their families.
Maintain accurate records and uphold compliance with all healthcare regulations.
About us
To provide an
expert and comprehensive Hospice service to enhance the experience of patients
with cancer from diagnosis through treatments to palliative and end of life
care and to others with progressive life threatening conditions. The service
also supports relatives and carers providing care predominately in the home or
within the local community.
Hospice at Home
is a charitable organisation working alongside and in collaboration with other
specialist palliative care providers, local primary care services and Adult
Social Care as well as acute settings and residential care.
The service
provides nursing care and support, respite, specialist services of Lymphoedema,
Occupational Therapy, Family and Bereavement Support, Counselling and
Complementary Therapy.
The service
utilises Registered Nurses, Assistant Practitioners. Health Care Assistants,
Volunteers, Counsellors and Allied Health Care Professionals supported by
administrative staff.
Delivers
a financial and income generation function which is sustainable and in line
with regulatory and legal requirements.
To provide a fundraising and marketing strategy in support of the
charitable aims.

Shifts available- providing blocks of respite care through the day of approximately 5 hours, according to patient need.
Overnight-Facilitating home deaths or overnight respite.
- To provide ongoing assessment of patients needs during a shift of work for those patients with life threatening illness and those who are dying.
- To assess patients condition and any deterioration that may have occurred, document and refer on to the appropriate personnel.
- To talk with patients, explain, listen and advise them regarding symptom control (e.g. pain, nausea & vomiting, constipation).
- To carry out direct nursing care (bladder & bowel management, nutritional management involving feeding regimes given via a PEG).
- To assess the needs and administer medications either orally, by injection or by syringe driver as prescribed.
To provide information to patients regarding other services on an as required basis.
- To be involved with patients who maybe undergoing distressing or emotional circumstances.
- Escalate incidents/risks to line manager.
- To assist with care after death as and when needed.
Report safeguarding concerns to line manager and/or safeguarding lead
