Job summary

This role is part of an employment advice service, working closely with clinicians who provide psychological therapies to people with common mental health problems. The post holder will support service users with common mental health problems to gain, return to or retain employment. The role will involve working directly with Jobcentre Plus, employers, trade unions and employment agencies to keep people in employment and secure employment opportunities

Main duties of the job

Managing a complex active caseload of 40 to 50 people who have experienced mental health problems and who wish to gain, retain, or return to employment. Working with clinical teams and MHM staff to identify the best outcomes for clients. Focussing on the aspirations of the client to keep or obtain good employment, considering their strengths, difficulties, and barriers. Assessing a client's employment goals and any concerns regarding their capacity for work, their confidence to perform tasks and any factors that may be issues for employment. This is to be achieved by using evidence-based interventions supporting the individual to develop strategies to address them. Advocating on behalf of the person with current and prospective employers if necessary, aiming to identify work solutions that will overcome or minimise difficulties within the workplace. Working with employers to raise their awareness of mental health issues including the effects poor mental health has on absenteeism, presentism and leaveism. Developing in-depth knowledge of the local labour market, local support and new initiatives, taking into account the needs of the client to broker effective interventions. Including specialist schemes to help with retaining or finding employment. Working closely with local agencies to identify appropriate job vacancies

About the role We are looking for individuals who aspire to work in Mental Health and Employment Support. You will be working in partnership with the local Talking Therapies Service to provide employment support to those who have mild to moderate anxiety and or depression. Your role will involve supporting individuals to gain employment, retain current employment and return to work after a period of absence. This could be to help with job retention, liaison with employers or assisting people in finding and keeping paid or voluntary work. It is important to understand the principles of the Equalities Act and how it relates to Employment Rights. The role involves lone working with clients on a one-to-one basis through phone calls, video calls or face to face in community location. You will be provided with the equipment to work from your own home or in the local community. You will be expected to self-manage a caseload of clients and set realistic employment goals and action plans. As part of your role, you will be expected to work in line with MHM values to promote the employment service within the wider community. You will liaise with Talking Therapies PWPs, HITs and external agencies such as Job Centre Plus and community providers. Key Duties * Meet personal performance targets and Key Performance Indicators. * Manage a caseload of clients using a variety of coaching strategies, ensuring the are prepared for interviews and job searching. * Assessing client's needs and creating tailored SMART action plans to support employment goals. * To signpost to local specialist services to obtain support to address specific issues (e.g. debt advice, employment law, benefit advice and vocational training). * Proactively participate in continuous improvement activities to ensure that the service continues to deliver excellent customer service. * Fully comply with company policies including those for personal data security, safeguarding and health & safety. What we are looking for * Customer focused with a strong commitment to client care. * A strong team player with a positive and flexible approach to work and colleagues. * Previous Experience of working in a fast paced, target driven environment while delivering quality standards. * IT literate in using a range of Microsoft Office programmes, i.e. Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. * Strong communicator - demonstrating an ability to listen, question and build relationships. * Demonstrate creative problem-solving skills and a positive approach to challenging and overcoming any barriers. * Ability to plan and organise a workload to meet required targets and deadlines. * Knowledge of the Mental Health and or employment support.
