Job summary

You will provide high volume low intensity interventions, which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions, to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. You will receive excellent support in your role, including extensive clinical and caseload supervision.

Main duties of the job

Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service. Assess and support people with a common mental health problem in the self management of their recovery. Undertake patient-centred interviews which identifies areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and makes an accurate assessment of risk to self and others. Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the service's referral protocols, refers unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary or steps-up the person's treatment to high intensity psychological therapy. Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high-volume low-intensity psychological treatments. This may include guided self-help computerised CBT, information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face to face, telephone, workshops or via other media. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary. Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the overall number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate. Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week. Part time hours also available (Shift pattern to be agreed with Line Manager) Salary: £28,407- £34,581 per annum (NHS AFC Band 5) Based: Warrington Service opening hours: 8am and 8pm Monday to Thursday and 8am- 5pm Fridays, therefore we ask that you must be available to work one late shift at least once a week, which will be agreed with the Line Manager. At the Warrington Talking Therapy Service, we offer Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) high quality supervision and opportunities for continual professional development. PWP's are supported to become proficient in psychological assessment, delivering a range of low-intensity psychological treatments for anxiety disorders and depression - psychoeducation, behavioural activation, medication management, problem solving and guided self-help. About you To be eligible for this position you must have completed the Low Intensity training in NHS Talking Therapies and be registered with the BABCP or BPS.

  • You will have have experience of working within NHS Talking Therapies.
  • You will be able to demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication, be able to establish good therapeutic relationships with people (including by telephone) and be computer literate. You will also be able to evaluate and put in place the skills and knowledge that you are provided as part of the training and development opportunities included in this role.
  • A good knowledge and understanding of the NHS Talking Therapies programme for Common Mental Health Disorders, particularly the PWP role within stepped-care, will be essential.
  • You will have experience of working with Mental Health and will be able to inspire and engage people and have the ability to identify barriers and understand client needs, while possessing excellent motivational skills.
